Nothing has officially confirmed the stable rollout of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 for the CMF Phone (1) and CMF Phone (2) Pro. The announcement aligns with the company’s earlier promise that both CMF devices would receive the stable update before the end of the year. Here’s what we know about the rollout.
According to Nothing, the stable Nothing OS 4.0 rollout for the CMF Phone (1) has started today. As the update is being released in phases, it may take a few days before it reaches all users. The CMF Phone (2) Pro is next in line and is expected to receive the update in the coming weeks, although Nothing has not shared a specific release date.
The company also confirmed that the stable Nothing OS 4.0 update will be made available to Nothing Phone (3a) Lite users starting in January 2026.
A CMF Phone (1) user has shared a screenshot of the update changelog, revealing that the firmware package weighs around 2.03GB and comes with the build number Tetris-B4.0-251216-1717-IND. Another user highlighted a noticeable visual tweak introduced with the update, where the battery percentage is now displayed inside the battery icon on the CMF Phone (1).
With this rollout, the CMF Phone (1) is receiving its final major operating system upgrade. In contrast, the CMF Phone (2) Pro is getting its first major OS update. Nothing has previously confirmed that the CMF Phone (2) Pro is eligible for up to three major Android updates up to Android 18.
