After years of speculation, Nintendo has officially unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2. The next-gen handheld-console hybrid was announced during the April 2 Nintendo Direct, nearly eight years after the original Switch.
Here’s everything you need to know about its release date, specs and games.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on June 5, 2025. It will be priced at $449.99 for the standard model and $499.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle.
Pre-orders open on April 8 in Europe and April 9 in North America.
While Nintendo doesn’t officially operate in India, the Switch 2 is expected to arrive through third-party sellers, with an estimated price between ₹36,000 and ₹42,000.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has been completely redesigned, featuring a larger body at 271.8mm wide and 114.3mm tall, while keeping a 13.9mm thickness. It weighs 399g (with controllers attached) and includes a bigger kickstand for better tabletop gaming. Unlike its predecessor, it features two USB-C ports (top and bottom) for improved connectivity.

The device boasts a 7.9-inch LCD screen with a 1920×1080 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. While it now supports HDR10, it doesn’t have an OLED panel, which could mean an OLED variant might come later.
When docked, the Switch 2 supports 4K output at 60Hz and 1080p/1440p at up to 120Hz. The dock has built-in cooling to prevent overheating and supports HDR10 output, offering better visuals on compatible TVs.
Storage gets a big upgrade with 256GB of internal memory, expandable via microSD Express cards up to 2TB. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, and Ethernet support via the dock. Audio improvements include enhanced speakers, 3D audio support and 5.1 PCM output when docked.
