Motorola is focusing on developing new smartphones that are scheduled to hit the market in 2025.
One of the devices as per recent reports has been codenamed ‘Houston”.
Here’s everything we know about this upcoming smartphone so far.
Gizmochina in one of its recent reports revealed details about Motorola’s new affordable smartphone.
Codenamed “Houston”, the upcoming smartphone was spotted in the IMEI listing.
As per the above screenshots shared by Gizmochina in their report, there will be four associated handsets.
The screenshot reveals four model numbers: XT2517-V, XT2517-1, XT2517-2, and XT2517-3.
The “XT25” prefix confirms its scheduled release in 2025.
It marks it as part of Motorola’s upcoming lineup of budget-friendly devices.
It is also being suggested that the codename “Houston” is a reference to the name of the populous Texan city.
If this is true, it appears we have a big hint about the region where this smartphone will be released.
Some tech experts believe this device may be targeted primarily at the American market.
However, Motorola plans to make the smartphone available in the international market in the future.
While the U.S. market appears to be a priority for this upcoming smartphone, Motorola has a history of tweaking device engineering to meet regional demands.
Assuming the brand will follow this trend with future releases as well, it is speculated that the smartphone with the codename “Houston” could also be launched in other countries later on.
“Houston” smartphone is already building as Motorola continues to expand its affordable smartphone offerings.
The exact release date has yet to be announced.
In other news, the Gizmochina team also spotted another Motorola smartphone codename “Orion” in the IMEI database.
While more details are awaited, it is suggested that this could be Motorola’s next foldable since the model number XT2551-3 follows the model number pattern of the Razr 50 Ultra.
