Motorola’s upcoming wide foldable smartphone, reportedly called the Motorola Razr Flex, has appeared on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Motorola has confirmed that it is working on a wide foldable phone but its final name, specifications and launch date are yet to be announced. Here’s what we know about the foldable smartphone so far.
Motorola Razr Flex Appears on Geekbench
The Motorola Razr Flex scored 2,669 points in the single-core test and 8,837 points in the multi-core test on Geekbench 6.7.1. The listing identifies the processor as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and mentions 12GB of RAM. The phone is also shown running Android 17.
The chipset is worth noting because previous leaks suggested that Motorola could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The latest listing points to a different processor, although the final hardware configuration remains unconfirmed.
The benchmark results should not be considered representative of the phone’s final performance since it was based on a prototype. The scores are also specific to Geekbench 6.7.1 and should not be directly compared with results from Geekbench 7.
Motorola Razr Flex Specifications (Expected)
Previous leaks have outlined several possible specifications for Motorola’s upcoming wide foldable smartphone. The device is expected to feature a 6.92-inch inner OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate along with a 4.97-inch cover screen.
In the camera department, the phone is rumoured to feature two 50-megapixel rear cameras and two 32-megapixel selfie cameras potentially offering camera options for both folded and unfolded use.
The Motorola Razr Flex is also expected to pack a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W wireless charging. Other reported specifications include Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and IP48 and IP49 ratings for protection against dust and water.
Why the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Chip Matters?
While the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the higher-end option, the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could still deliver flagship-level performance for a foldable smartphone.
A separate Geekbench listing for the rumoured Motorola Razr Fold, spotted by Notebookcheck, also showed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. That device reportedly scored 2,693 points in the single-core test and 9,213 points in the multi-core test.
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 scored 2,703 points in single-core and 9,317 points in multi-core testing. These results suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 could offer competitive performance for a large foldable device, although benchmark results alone do not establish real-world performance.
Using the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 instead of the Elite variant could also help Motorola manage costs. According to PhoneArena, the Razr Flex could be priced below the Apple iPhone Duo, reportedly priced at $1,999, and the expected Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which is mentioned at $1,899.
Motorola has not announced a price and these comparisons remain speculative.

Motorola Razr Flex Design and Launch Timeline

The Motorola Razr Flex is expected to feature a wide-fold design with a large inner screen and a smaller cover display for use when the phone is closed. Its reported weight of 215g could also be an advantage in a segment where foldable phones can be relatively heavy.
The phone is also rumoured to launch in two colour options named Pantone Coriander and Pantone Dark Botanical Garden.
As for availability, the Motorola Razr Flex is expected to launch around mid-December. However, the company has yet to announce an official launch date, confirm the Razr Flex name or reveal its pricing.
