Motorola is preparing to launch its next budget-friendly smartphone, the Moto G36 5G, which will debut in China as the successor to the Moto G35. The handset has just appeared on China’s TENAA certification website, revealing its full specifications and design details. Alongside this, the device has also been spotted on India’s BIS certification, hinting at an imminent launch. Here’s what we know so far.
The TENAA listing confirms that the Moto G36 carries the model number XT2533-4. While the official name wasn’t mentioned, reports suggest this model corresponds to the upcoming Moto G36 5G.
According to the certification, the device will feature a 6.72-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1080 × 2400 pixels and support for 16.7 million colors. Under the hood, it will be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.4GHz. The phone will be available in multiple RAM and storage variants, including 4GB, 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB RAM, paired with 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options.
One of the standout features is its massive 6,790mAh battery, which was further confirmed through a 3C certification to support 33W fast wired charging.
The Moto G36 5G will house a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP secondary lens, supporting 2× optical zoom. For selfies, it will come equipped with a 20MP front-facing camera.
The device also integrates essential sensors, including a gravity sensor, distance sensor, light sensor, fingerprint scanner, and face recognition for security.
In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 166.3 × 76.5 × 8.7mm and weighs 210 grams. The rear design features a matte-finished purple back panel with Motorola’s signature batwing logo at the centre. The quad-ring camera module follows a 2×2 grid arrangement, housing three sensors along with an LED flash.
On the right side, the phone has a power button (likely with an integrated fingerprint sensor) and volume rocker, while the left side appears to house the SIM tray. The front display shows a punch-hole camera cutout.
The TENAA listing confirms dual SIM standby with connectivity options like USB and Bluetooth. Network support includes GSM, WCDMA, LTE FDD, LTE TDD, and 5G NR (SA and NSA) across a wide range of bands, including Band 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 38, 39, 40, 41, 78, N1, N8, and N5.
Although the device will not support expandable storage, it will offer basic features like GPRS, EDGE, VoLTE, VoNR, MMS, emergency calls (110, 119, 112, 120, 122), and supplementary functions such as call hold, call waiting, caller ID, and call forwarding.
