Meta’s Threads is currently in the middle of optimising the platform keeping in mind growing trends even if that meant taking chapter directly from its competitor’s playbook.

We have earlier reported how Threads is replicating some of the popular features of Bluesky, another microblogging platform that has gained popularity in recent times as an alternative to X (formerly Twitter).

It appears Threads is not done peeking into the platform.

Recent reports suggest Meta’s Threads is working on a feature inspired by Bluesky’s popular ‘Starter Packs.’ These curated lists of recommended users are designed to help new members quickly find accounts to follow.

According to screenshots of the feature still under development, Threads’ version will feature profiles “handpicked by people on Threads.”

While Threads leverages Instagram’s social graph to connect users, Bluesky introduced Starter Packs as a way to engage new users by suggesting accounts based on interests, geographies, languages, industries or fandoms.

This concept allows Bluesky’s community members to create and share lists of interesting users, making it easier for newcomers to explore relevant content.

Redesigned Feeds on Threads to Swipe Between Feeds From Home Screen

Threads has also introduced a redesign that lets users swipe between different feeds directly from the home screen, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced.

The new layout allows quick navigation between Following, For You, or custom feeds, similar to the functionality on X (formerly Twitter).

“Following is now just a swipe away, and you can easily swipe between any of your custom feeds. This may look like a small change, but it should make navigating the app much simpler,” Mosseri shared.

The update began rolling out for Android users this week and will arrive on iOS soon.

Moreover, Threads recently started testing an option to let users set their Following feed or any other feed as the default view—one of the most requested features since the platform’s launch last year.

Threads’ Growth in November

Meanwhile, Threads is experiencing rapid growth with 35 million new users signing up in November alone. Over the last three months, the app has reportedly averaged more than a million daily signups.

In mid-November, Mosseri revealed that Threads had already reached 15 million signups for the month. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg further highlighted the app’s success, sharing that Threads now boasts over 275 million monthly active users.
