This composite sensor combines data from various sensors to detect accidents more accurately.

Galaxy S25 Slim Delayed Until Q2 2025, Expected To Feature ALoP Technology

The rumoured ultra-thin addition to Samsung’s flagship lineup Galaxy S25 Slim may not launch alongside the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra in January 2025.

Leaks from the One UI 7 Beta shared by a recent Android Authority report and GSMA IMEI database hint at a delayed release most likely in Q2 2025. While the Slim model might get a teaser during the January 22 Galaxy Unpacked event, it seems the official launch will come later.

PhoneArena in its recent report reveals that “the Galaxy S25 series was spotted in the GSMA IMEI database with model numbers SM-S931, SM-S936, and SM-S938 for the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra respectively. A fourth model, an SM-S937 was spotted, positioned between the S25 Plus and Ultra.”

The report further adds, “The delayed entry into the database could indicate that the device is scheduled to launch later, around Q2, rather than in January with the rest of the lineup.

This delay aligns with its unique design focus, incorporating ALoP (All Lenses on Prism) camera technology to maintain high camera quality in a slimmer form factor. According to popular tipster Jukanlosreve on X, the new camera technology that Samsung is expected to use with the Galaxy S25 Slim.

The Slim model is expected to stand out as a premium option in the series and is expected to stand somewhere between the S25 Plus and Ultra.

Galaxy A56 – Flagship-Level Mid-Ranger

Meanwhile, leaks suggest that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A56 could rival flagship devices with its impressive specs. The previous generation Galaxy A55 skipped the US market but now the A56 is generating excitement with its advanced features and potential wider availability.

Meta-owned messaging app better known as WhatsApp is now making it easier for users to get in touch with the app support team. It appears WhatsApp is working on a new ‘Chat with Us’ feature for its web app. Here’s what we know about the feature so far.

Revealed by trusted WhatsApp beta reporter WABetaInfo, the feature is designed to make it easier for users to get support directly from the WhatsApp team. This feature aims to simplify the support process, letting users skip FAQs and quickly connect with either automated responses or human representatives.

According to the WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp users will receive a notification that a support chat will be initiated soon when they select Chat with Us in the Help section. Initially, the response might be AI-generated or automated, but users can request to speak with a human representative if needed.

image

This is particularly useful for addressing more complex issues that automation cannot resolve. Users will first provide details about their query, and the system will process their request before sending a follow-up response in the same chat.

If the automated response doesn’t resolve the issue, the chat can be escalated to a human agent.

As of now, getting help on WhatsApp often requires navigating through a lengthy list of FAQs, which can be time-consuming and may not always provide the right solutions. The new feature changes the whole support process into one step and creates a direct line of communication with WhatsApp’s support team.

The Chat with Us feature is being developed for WhatsApp’s web app, which is an extension of the phone app and works by connecting via a QR code. This makes it accessible on devices like tablets, Chromebooks, and desktop computers even if they don’t support WhatsApp’s Android or iOS apps.

This feature is expected to roll out in a future update of the web client offering a quicker and more efficient way for users to get help. While automated responses are great for common issues, the ability to chat with a human provides personalised assistance that many users need for more complex problems.

FAQs

Q1. What is the new feature that WhatsApp is testing for its web app?

Answer. WhatsApp is testing a “Chat with Us” feature for its web app to simplify and speed up user support by enabling direct communication with either automated responses or human representatives.

Q2. Can users talk to a human representative using the “Chat with Us” feature?

Answer. Yes, users can initially interact with AI-generated responses but can request to speak with a human representative for complex issues that automation cannot resolve.

Q3. When is the “Chat with Us” feature expected to roll out?

Answer. The feature is expected to launch in a future update of the web client offering a quicker and more efficient way for users to get help bypassing lengthy FAQs.

iPhone 17 Rumored to Finally Get Higher Refresh Rate ProMotion Display

0

Highlights

  • Rumours suggest the iPhone 17 might feature a higher refresh rate display introducing “ProMotion” technology.
  • Leaker DCS supports claims that the standard iPhone 17 could have a 120Hz refresh rate.
  • Apple might use low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) panels for the iPhone 17.

One long-standing criticism of iPhones has been the low refresh rate of iPhone displays, especially when Android smartphones have been breaking ground in the department for years. The internal was flooded with memes earlier this year after the iPhone 16 series was launched with a 60Hz refresh rate. It appears Apple has finally decided to take the criticism seriously.

Recent reports suggest Apple’s standard iPhone 17 expected next year might feature a higher refresh rate display possibly introducing ProMotion” technology to the base iPhone lineup for the first time.

Weibo-based leaker Digital Chat Station recently claimed that supply chain materials back up the rumours about the standard iPhone 17 getting a higher refresh rate. While the leaker didn’t specify the exact refresh rate, previous reports suggest it could be 120Hz matching the “ProMotion” technology currently exclusive to the Pro models.

image
Digital Chat Station’s recent post on Weibo about iPhone 17. (Translated Via Google Translate)

ProMotion allows refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz. This range enables features like always-on functionality for time, widgets and notifications as well as smoother scrolling and enhanced video playback.

The jump in refresh rate is likely tied to Apple adopting low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) panels for all iPhone 17 models. These panels are more power-efficient and enable ProMotion. Currently, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus use low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panels, which are capped at 60Hz.

iPhone 17 and the rumors about higher refresh rate displays

If the rumours are accurate, the standard iPhone 17 will deliver smoother visuals and potentially bring features like always-on displays previously limited to the Pro models.

A 120Hz refresh rate on the standard iPhone 17 would mark a significant improvement offering better scrolling, smoother animations and more immersive video experiences. Moreover, ProMotion’s ability to dynamically adjust refresh rates can improve battery efficiency making it a win for users who value both performance and longevity.

While nothing is official yet, the rumour adds to the excitement about Apple’s next iPhone lineup.

FAQs

Q1. What is the rumoured refresh rate for the upcoming iPhone 17?

Answer. The iPhone 17 is rumoured to feature a higher refresh rate display potentially introducing “ProMotion” technology with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Q2. What display technology is expected in the base iPhone lineup with the iPhone 17?

Answer. ProMotion technology, which allows refresh rates ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, is expected to be introduced to the base iPhone lineup with the iPhone 17.

Q3. How will the iPhone 17 achieve the rumoured higher refresh rate?

Answer. The iPhone 17 will likely adopt low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) panels, enabling more power-efficient ProMotion technology and potentially introducing always-on display features.-

Redesigned Apple Magic Mouse 3 Rumoured to Arrive in Late 2026

0

Highlights

  • Reports suggest Magic Mouse will get a complete redesign in late 2026.
  • Apple will reportedly to for a design more relevant to modern computing needs, integrating touchscreens, gestures and more.
  • Despite some claims, it’s unlikely the new Magic Mouse will include voice controls.
image

There was a vocal disappointment amongst fans earlier this year when Apple updated its Mac accessories including the Magic Mouse. The only change the company made to the older design was adding a to include USB-C versions. The story was similar for Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad where the only new addition to the older designs was the USB-C port.

However, it seems Apple has noticed the criticism in the case of Magic Mouse and now rumours are hinting at a complete redesign for the product expected to launch in late 2026. Here’s what we are hearing.

A well-known Korean leaker yeux1122 has shared that the Magic Mouse 3 will debut around the same time as Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro, likely in late 2026. This timeline suggests the new mouse would arrive roughly two years after the recent USB-C Magic Mouse 2.

Mark Gurman: Apple plans major Magic Mouse redesign

Trusted Apple reporter Mark Gurman had earlier revealed that Apple is working on a major revamp of the Magic Mouse.

While specific details remain unclear, Gurman mentioned that Apple’s design team aims to create something “more relevant” while addressing “longstanding complaints.”

There’s been some confusion surrounding possible new features for the Magic Mouse. Some reports claim that yeux1122 hinted at voice controls, but that’s not accurate.

In an English excerpt from the leaker’s post, they note that Apple’s team has been prototyping a design that better aligns with modern computing needs. The post translated via Google read, “Apple’s design team has been prototyping the accessory for the past few months, adapting the design to better fit the modern era (*ergonomic design for modern computing that mixes touchscreens, voice commands, and hand gestures)”

However, this doesn’t mean the Magic Mouse 3 will include voice controls. The leaker’s comments simply repeat Gurman’s earlier report, where he said Apple’s redesign would reflect a modern era of computing that integrates various input methods such as touchscreens, gestures and voice commands.

Gurman wrote, “Apple’s design team has been prototyping versions of the accessory in recent months, aiming to devise something that better fits the modern era. In a computing world now infused with touch screens, voice commands and hand gestures…”

So, while Apple’s upcoming Magic Mouse is expected to be more advanced and user-friendly, voice controls aren’t part of the deal as of yet.

FAQs

Q1. When is the redesigned Apple Magic Mouse 3 expected to be released?

Answer. The Magic Mouse 3 is rumoured to debut in late 2026, around the same time as Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro.

Q2. What are the anticipated changes in the Magic Mouse 3 design?

Answer. As per reports, the redesign aims to address longstanding complaints and create something more relevant to modern computing needs. It will incorporate touchscreens, gestures and possibly voice commands.

Q3. Will the Magic Mouse 3 include voice controls?

Answer. Despite some confusion, it’s unlikely that the new Magic Mouse will include voice controls, focusing instead on an ergonomic design that aligns with contemporary computing methods.

Just days after vowing to “go to war” over the H-1B visa program, Elon Musk has labelled the system “broken” and in need of a “major reform.” The tech billionaire voiced his concerns on X (formerly Twitter), advocating for significant changes to the program, which allows skilled foreign workers to enter the United States.

Responding to a user’s post suggesting that the H-1B program isn’t the best way to attract top global talent, Musk said he’s “been very clear” that the system requires reform.

Musk, who himself came to the U.S. from South Africa on an H-1B visa, proposed raising the minimum salary for visa holders and introducing an annual cost to maintain the visa. He argued that these measures would make hiring overseas talent “materially more expensive” than hiring domestically, addressing some of the criticisms aimed at the program.

Last week, Musk emphasized the importance of attracting elite engineering talent from abroad, saying it’s “essential for America to keep winning.”

Musk and Ramaswamy Face Criticism Over Immigration Stance

Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, who shares Musk’s support for the H-1B program, has also drawn criticism, particularly from Donald Trump’s supporters.

Ramaswamy echoed Musk’s sentiments, highlighting what he perceives as a U.S. cultural shift that undervalues excellence. “A culture that celebrates the prom queen over the math olympiad champ… will not produce the best engineers,” he said in a post on X.

The debate over the H-1B program intensified after Indian-American entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan was selected as an adviser on AI policy in Trump’s incoming administration. Critics like right-wing influencer Laura Loomer accused Musk, Ramaswamy, and Krishnan of prioritizing foreign workers over Americans.

Musk, however, didn’t shy away from responding to his critics, warning of a potential “MAGA civil war” over the issue. In one instance, he bluntly told a critic, “I will go to war on this issue.”

Trump Backs H-1B Visas Despite Opposition from Supporters

Amid the ongoing debate, Donald Trump has publicly supported Musk and Ramaswamy’s stance on H-1B visas, even as some of his supporters push for abolishing the program. Speaking to The New York Post, Trump defended the visa system noting its benefits for businesses including his own.

“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” Trump said signalling his alignment with Musk and Ramaswamy on the controversial issue.

As the debate continues, Musk’s call for reform highlights the broader challenges surrounding immigration policy and the future of skilled labour in the U.S.

FAQs

Q1. What changes does Elon Musk propose for the H-1B visa system?

Answer. Elon Musk proposes raising the minimum salary for visa holders and introducing an annual cost to maintain the visa to make hiring overseas talent more expensive than hiring domestically.

Q2. How did Donald Trump respond to criticisms regarding the H-1B visa program?

Answer. Donald Trump publicly supported the H-1B visa program, stating its benefits for businesses, including his own and noting that he has used the program many times.

Q3. What is the broader challenge highlighted by the debate over the H-1B program?

Answer. The debate over the H-1B program highlights broader challenges in U.S. immigration policy and the future of skilled labour with Elon Musk warning of a potential “MAGA civil war” over the issue.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has received a major financial boost after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) waived bank guarantee (BG) requirements for spectrum auctions held in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2021.

The waiver announced last week frees Vi from providing BGs worth ₹24,800 crore.

This move is part of a broader relief package for the telecom sector and is expected to help operators allocate resources more effectively toward network expansion.

The DoT informed private telecom operators Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vi about waiving BGs totalling ₹33,000 crore on December 27. Vodafone Idea is the most indebted of the three and has received the largest share of relief.

In an official statement, Vi welcomed the decision saying, “This step of BG waiver is a clear indication of the government’s continued support to the telecom industry. It will ensure that the exposure of the banking system is utilized by telecom operators towards further proliferation of 4G and 5G networks in India.”

Before this change, Vodafone Idea had to provide BGs worth ₹24,800 crore to cover spectrum 0instalments. The waiver eliminates this requirement for auctions held in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2021.

However, the company acknowledged a one-time partial shortfall related to the 2015 auction, stating, “We are in discussion with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to determine the final amount of this partial shortfall for the 2015 auction.”

This relief is especially significant for Vodafone Idea, which has yet to roll out its 5G services. With reduced financial pressure, the company can redirect resources to expand its 4G network and expedite its 5G deployment. The waiver also improves its credit outlook making it easier to secure funding from lenders.

Competing with larger players like Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel remains a challenge for Vi. However, this change marks a step forward in its efforts to strengthen its position in India’s telecom market.
