While we don’t have an exact update about the price and variant available.
In Malaysia, the phone was launched in two variants – a 3GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant and a 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage version.
The 3GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is priced at MYR 299 (around €65 or $75 or approx INR 6,500). The price of the other 4GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant remains under wraps.
The Smart 9 comes with a 6.7-inch LCD always-on display with HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also features a punch-hole design for the front-facing selfie camera. The smartphone has a Dynamic Bar for notifications.

The “48-month fluency” claim only applies to the version with 128GB of storage.
Infinix Smart 9 marketing material promises long-term performance. However, a note clarified that the fluency claim is not the same as the “absolutely no lag” claim. This makes us wonder whether a claim is only a marketing gimmick rather than a breakthrough.
Other features include a 5,000mAh battery, IP54 rating for dust and water resistance and drop protection.
Infinix Smart 9 also comes with stereo speakers for better sound quality.
The phone runs on Android 14 Go Edition and with Infinix’s XOS 14 skin on top. The software optimises the devices with lighter specs.

Many artists around the world have spoken about the Deepfake threat and possible misuse of AI technology. The recent to have spoken out in this matter is Bollywood Actress Ananya Panday.
Pandey, whose upcoming Netflix film CTRL delves into the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), recently spoke about the dangers associated with a more closely interconnected world and AI.
The actress believes that government regulations are crucial to prevent misuse of this powerful technology.
There has been growing conversation around Deepfake in light of recent deepfake scandals involving other Bollywood celebrities including Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Rashmika Mandanna.
Panday emphasized the risk public figures face from such harmful content.
Panday stressed the need for government action to protect individuals from the negative impacts of deepfake technology. “It’s very scary. As public figures, our faces and voices are out there. I don’t know how much we can safeguard. I think it will have to come from regulations by the government, that’s probably the only solution,” she said during a media interaction.
In the upcoming film CTRL, Panday’s character uses an AI app to erase her cheating boyfriend from her life, a fictional scenario that mirrors real-world concerns about AI’s potential for manipulation.
Produced by Saffron and Andolan Films, CTRL is set to stream on Netflix starting October 4. The cyber-thriller is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
Deepfake technology uses AI to convincingly swap one person’s likeness with another. It could lead to serious ethical and privacy issues. The technology is often used to create misleading or objectionable videos using the faces of famous people from around the world. Many celebrities have spoken out against it in the past as well.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the newly elected Union Government in India will soon introduce a Digital India Bill to check Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated deepfake videos and explore better ways to use the technology.
“We need certainly a lot of consultation and debate and discussion around it. But we certainly have a roadmap of what is legislation, what is our policy goals and what are the policy principles for safety and trust,” Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology had said at the Financial Express’s DigiFraud & Safety Summit 2023.

Google’s upcoming Pixel 9a is set to make some drastic changes in the design of the phone if recently leaked renders are of any indication. In order to change the original design concept, it seems Google has removed the iconic “camera bar” completely.
From the leaked images shared by Android Headlines and @OnLeaks, it can be seen that the camera bar or “visor” across the back has been a defining feature of all Pixel smartphones. The camera bar since Google’s customer Tensor chips makes the pixel smartphone instantly recognisable.
So, Google’s decision to move away from the camera bar design in the Pixel 9a is definitely surprising.
Recently, leaked renders that mostly look like CAD-based images surfaced online revealing the new design choice Google has made. The renders showed a glimpse of a new, sleeker design for the Pixel 9a.
Instead of the old camera bar that many users didn’t like because it stuck out too much for their liking, the cameras are now flush with the back of the phone. It looks similar to older LG devices before they exited the smartphone market.

Leaked renders also reveal that the flash is positioned on the right side of the camera lenses.
This is not the first time we have learned about the change in the design of Pixel 9a. This design change was previously hinted at in a prototype that surfaced earlier this year in August.
While these renders give us a good look at the new design, no additional details, such as dimensions have been revealed as of now.
Like other recent A-series smartphones, the Pixel 9a is expected to be powered by the same Tensor G4 as Google’s more premium phones. It’s also expected that the Pixel 9a might have a bigger battery as compared to its predecessor the Pixel 8a’s 4,492mAh cell.
It was reported some time back that Pixel 9a will be Google’s last handset with a Samsung-made chip.
The Pixel 9a is expected to launch in mid-2025. To give a precise timeline, some reports speculate that it could be unveiled in May 2025 during Google’s I/O conference. In any case, it will most likely be part of Google’s release of five new Pixel devices next year.

The next time you resist technological advancement, remember it can always be put to good use and holds immense benefits to make the world invest in it. A recent incident from the US is a good reminder of how technology can help us in times of need.
A man has been recently arrested for allegedly stealing a 2023 Ferrari 812 GTS, worth around $575,000. The investigating police team had some help from one of the most common devices we use today – Earbuds! Specifically speaking, Apple AirPods!
Thanks to a pair of Apple AirPods left by the owner inside the car, the Ferrari stolen from Greenwich Connecticut on September 16 has been recovered.
According to reports, the owner had left a pair of Apple AirPods in the car when it was stolen.
After the arrest, the local police were able to connect the suspect and another individual to additional car thefts, solving more than one case at a time.
According to a local news report, the Waterbury Police Department was alerted to the car’s location after the Ferrari’s owner tracked their AirPods.
Authorities have identified the suspect as 22-year-old Dion Schontten. He is a known figure in the department’s Auto Theft Task Force.
Officers found him driving the stolen Ferrari at a gas station. When Schontten noticed the undercover police car nearby, he reportedly rammed the Ferrari into it and then fled the scene on foot.
Schontten left his iPhone inside the Ferrari, which later helped the Police to find a link to him through text messages and social media posts.
Schontten and 18-year-old Keon Webster were arrested on September 26. The Waterbury police found both criminals in another recently stolen 2023 Acura TLX from New York.
According to local news reports, both Schontten and Webster had been driving the stolen Acura in turns to ensure that were not caught.
Webster is a wanted criminal in another stolen vehicle, an Audi S8.
Both Schontten and Webster were charged with motor vehicle larceny.
Schontten is facing his second offense and Webster has been charged seven times in several previous crimes. Schontten is being held on a $150,000 bond and Webster on a $300,000 bond.

Samsung hints that some AI features in its Galaxy devices may not remain free from 2025.
No details on the exact plans yet.
Samsung Health app might adopt a subscription model.
Samsung Press Statement hints “fees may apply to certain AI features at the end of 2025.” (Image credit – Samsung)
Samsung has been focusing on integrating AI into its Galaxy phones since the beginning of this year. The brand clearly understands AI’s future potential and how it can become a potential revenue source. In a recent press statement unveiling the Galaxy Tab S10 Series, the South Korean brand suggested that some of these AI-powered features may not remain free forever.
This topic resurfaced when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Tab S10 series and Galaxy S24 FE in a press release on September 26. The press release mentioned that “fees may apply to certain AI features at the end of 2025.”
Samsung’s Plans for Paid AI Features
Samsung hasn’t confirmed which AI tools will have a fee.
This is not the first time we have heard about Samsung’s plan for paid AI features. The company has been hinting multiple times this year that certain AI features may eventually come with a price tag.
Similar messages were shared during the Galaxy S24 launch in January and the Galaxy Z6 launch in July.
However, it is important to note the company hasn’t specified which AI tools might require payment as of now. This leaves room for speculation and uncertainty around what will remain free.
We still have no specific updates on how Samsung plans to monetize AI features in the future.
Interestingly, many of Samsung’s AI tools are dependent on Google’s technology. Certain speculations believe that whenever Google starts charging for its AI services, Samsung will most likely put its plan in motion and follow suit.
Some media reports even pointed out how Samsung has been careful about mentioning “AI” rather than “Galaxy AI” in all its announcements so far.
Subscription Model for the Samsung Health App
One of the footnotes in the official press release for the new Tab S10 series and S24 FE explicitly mentions that “Fees may apply to certain AI features at the end of 2025.”
The Head of Samsung Health Hon Pak has previously mentioned the possibility of a subscription service for the Samsung Health app.
In February this year, while speaking to CNBC, Pak mentioned how he believes users must get the value they are paying for a service including AI features in the health app. He said, “If you’re going to really make me pay for something, you better give me something that’s more end-to-end, that’s more comprehensive,” he said.
While this statement was about Samsung Health, it gives a clear indication of Samsung’s approach to starting a paid plan for AI features.
Samsung’s Paid Services
Head of Samsung Health, Hon Pak, said Samsung was thinking of making a subscription service for the Health app, but that hasn’t come to pass .
Samsung has already started paid services with features such as Secure Wi-Fi. Users can pay $0.99 for 24 hours or $1.99 for a month for secure browsing on Galaxy devices.
In future, features such as AI-powered photography, voice assistants, and health tracking could be similar to paid services.
Samsung has used the term “AI” rather than “Galaxy AI”.
Users might also get the option to pay for advanced productivity tools such as AI-driven scheduling or transcription services.
While we now know how Samsung plans to charge for at least some of its AI features, we have to wait for more details to emerge to understand what and how exactly Samsung will roll out paid service.
As of now, Galaxy users can continue using AI tools for free.

The Google Phone app is reportedly getting a new change to its incoming call interface. As per some users online, the app that is the default dialer in most Android smartphones seems to be experimenting with designs.
According to a Reddit post last week, the incoming call screen of Android devices is getting a fresh look.
Reddit post pointing out the new design change of the incoming call interface.
The new interface reportedly is introducing dedicated “Accept” and “Decline” buttons in place of the traditional drag-to-accept or reject option,
This, if happens, will make the Android incoming call interface similar to what you see on iPhones. A similar design is already active in many other Android devices such as Samsung phones.
In this update, the green “Answer” button is placed on the right side just below the quick “Message” option. On the other hand, the red “Decline” button has been placed on the left side of the screen.
The screenshots shared by Telegram user iDeepak_Sharma demonstrate the changes in testing.

This layout, as shared by the Redditor, seems to be more straightforward and user-friendly compared to the current Android design. As of now, users have to drag a phone icon up or down to handle incoming calls.
As per reports, the updated interface reportedly comes with version v145.0.672690850 of the Google Phone app.
Many online users on Reddit and X (previously Twitter) seem to be excited about this change. Some claimed this change could make the experience less frustrating for users. However, the UI change appears to be in the limited testing phase at the moment.
Only a few people have reported seeing the new UI after updating their devices. Even after getting the latest version of the app, many users as well as testers have still now received the design change.
We can expect more details and a possible update from official sources in this regard soon.

The iPhone 16 series has significantly improved battery life and charging speed
Two of the four new iPhone 16 models made it into Tom’s Guide’s best smartphone battery life rankings for 2024.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max charges 20% faster than the iPhone 15 Pro Max with higher wattage charging bricks.
It’s been more than two weeks since the iPhone 16 series was launched with the big promise that it is “built for Apple Intelligence.” The launch response was understandably lukewarm. The most common response was the new iPhones didn’t have any “new” to offer.
Though on the surface that might seem true, Apple did make certain changes here and there to offer an upgrade. iPhone 16 battery and changing is one such aspect where we can see improvements. Recent battery test results released by Tom’s Guide also confirm that some of the iPhone 16 models have made huge improvements in the battery and charging department.
Out of the four newly launched iPhone 16 models, two have made it into Tom’s Guide’s best smartphone battery life rankings.
While the status of a third model wasn’t clear from the ranking page, we have enough evidence to say the iPhone 16 series battery is a huge upgrade from its predecessor.
Before we get to the iPhone 16 battery performance, let’s look at the Best Phone Battery Life list of 2024.
Best Phone Battery Life in 2024
No compatibility issues with third party chargers . Image – Chargers Lab
With so many phones improving in the battery department, it was tougher this year to get a place in the “Best phone battery life in 2024” list.
According to Tom’s Guide, “This influx of long-lasting phones is making it tougher than ever to land a spot in this best phone battery life guide. A phone would need to hold out for more than 14 hours on the battery test we run on each phone just to have a chance of breaking into the top 15 long-lasting phones.”
Revealing further details of how the test was conducted, Tom’s Guide’s ranking page reveals, “In our custom battery test, we make phones surf the web continuously over 5G until they run out of juice. We set the phone’s screen at 150 nits of brightness to ensure comparable results. And if the phone has a display with a fast refresh rate, we test multiple times with that feature enabled and disabled to get a sense of what kind of battery life you can expect.
The average phone lasts just over 10 hours, so anything better than that mark offers solid battery life. But to earn a place on the best phone battery life list, you need to go past 14 hours. Truly, we’re talking about phones that offer the kind of endurance where you’re less reliant on one of our best portable charger picks.”
The following phones have made it to the list –

The iPhone 16 Pro Max’s charging power was measured across first-party and third-party charging accessories. The result showed how the iPhone 16 Pro Max charges 20% faster or more compared to the previous iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Although both models charged at 18W when the standard 20W charging brick that Apple bundles in the box with new iPhones was used, other charging bricks of higher wattage output showed different results.
There are no compatibility issues.
