According to Apple’s official schedule, the release date for sales is September 20.

iPhone 16 Pre-orders open this Friday, September 13.

Apple has been offering ‘pre’ pre-order opportunities via the online Apple Store for years now. To avoid the stress of pre-ordering, Apple allows users to “head start” on pre-orders.
This helps users in moving ahead with their pre-orders as fast as possible.
This time too Apple announced the time limit for the pre-order ‘head start’.
Apple Newsroom said, “Customers have until 9 p.m. PDT this evening to get a head start on pre-ordering the new iPhone 16 lineup by choosing their desired model, selecting their preferred payment method — including pre-approval for financing — and saving their shopping bag so they’re only one click away once pre-orders open tomorrow.”
