HONOR has officially revealed the design of its upcoming foldable phone, the HONOR Magic V5. The brand recently confirmed that the phone will launch in China on July 2. Now, recent official updates have claimed that it will be the world’s thinnest foldable phone, measuring just 8.8mm when folded, breaking its own previous record set by the Magic V3. Here’s what we know.

HONOR, in a series of posts on Weibo, has shared official press images and a design video of the upcoming Magic V5. The images and video gives us a good look at the upcoming foldable.

Official look reveals the phone will be available in a shiny new gold colour with a textured back and hinge, adding a premium touch. The back also features a large camera island, housing three sensors, reportedly a main camera, an ultrawide, and a periscope telephoto lens. Rumours have already hinted that the main sensor could go up to 200MP.

Speaking at MWC Shanghai 2025, HONOR CEO James Li said the Magic V5 will be the brand’s most powerful AI-powered foldable yet. He emphasised that the device will be the “world’s thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone”, building on the Magic V3, which was 4.35mm when unfolded and 9.2mm folded.

The Magic V5 is designed to go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7, which is also expected in early July. HONOR is pitching the V5 as a serious contender with its focus on design, performance, and portability.
Earlier leaks suggest the HONOR Magic V5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version. It may feature a 7.95-inch 2K+ LTPO foldable screen, 50MP triple rear cameras, and a 3rd-gen silicon-carbon battery with around 6100mAh capacity and 66W wired charging.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the camera setup will likely include a 50MP main sensor, ultra-wide and a 3X optical periscope zoom lens.
More details are expected soon and a global launch is likely to follow later this year.
