Honor has launched its latest foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V5, at the recent AI Ecosystem event in China. The brand introduced the device as the world’s thinnest and lightest foldable flagship. When folded, the phone is just 8.8mm thick and weighs only 217 grams, which is incredibly slim and light for a foldable. Here’s everything we know about the phone.

Honor Magic V5 – Key Features

The Magic V5 opens up to a 7.95-inch inner OLED display with a resolution of 2352×2172. On the outside, there’s a 6.43-inch OLED screen at 2376×1060. Both displays support a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, DCI-P3 color, 10.7 billion colors, and a stunning 5000 nits peak brightness for HDR content.

Honor has added 4320Hz PWM dimming to reduce eye strain, along with AI-powered motion sickness reduction and colour consistency between both screens. The outer display uses next-gen Giant Rhinoceros glass for better durability. It offers 3× better wear resistance, 10× better drop resistance and 15× better scratch resistance.

When folded, the phone stands 156.8mm tall and 74.3mm wide. The Ivory White model is 8.8mm thick, while other colours go up to 9.0mm. Unfolded, it’s just 4.1mm (White) or 4.2mm (others) thick. Weight ranges from 217g to 222g, depending on the variant.

Inside, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor with Adreno 830 GPU. You get three storage options –

The phone runs MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15 and includes the YOYO AI assistant. Features include AI document reading, summarisation, real-time photo editing, and cross-platform support with Android, iOS, HarmonyOS, Windows, and macOS.

On the back, the Magic V5 packs a 50MP main, 50MP ultra-wide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. It supports 4K video, laser focus, OIS + EIS, and smart photo features like AI object removal, reflection reduction, and face repair.

For selfies, there are 20MP cameras on both the inner and outer screens, and both can shoot in 4K.

Most models come with a 5820mAh battery, but the 1TB version bumps that up to 6100mAh. Honor uses its Qinghai Lake Blade battery tech, which features 15–25% silicon content and an energy density of 901Wh/L, an industry first. HONOR’s AI Dujiangyan Power Management with a dedicated SoC voltage regulator and E2 efficiency chip further helps in optimising battery life.

You get 66W wired and 50W wireless SuperCharge, along with wireless reverse charging.

The phone includes dual stereo speakers, face unlock, under-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, and USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C with DisplayPort 1.2. It’s rated IP58 and IP59 for water and dust resistance.

Honor has used its Luban AI manufacturing model for precise hinge construction. The back cover is made from aerospace-grade composite fiber that’s just 0.014mm thick, 40 times more impact-resistant than steel and lighter than paper.
