While Google’s next-generation Pixel smartphones are still some months away, the leak train has already left the station.
An early look at the official wallpaper designs and probable colour variations of the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the highly anticipated Pixel 9 Pro Fold came out this weekend.
The leak is courtesy of one of the famous leak stars, Kamila Wojciechowska from Android Authority, who shared wallpaper files from forthcoming Android releases.
Though light on specifications, the artwork is an exciting peek into Google’s creative style.
The Pixel 9 series is reportedly ditching last year’s mineral theme in favour of something it’s calling a “Swirling Petals” wallpaper look.
The transparent backgrounds include swirling, petal-shaped smudges of colour cascading across the display in high contrast, yet muted tones, which Google seems to prefer for bright but restrained backgrounds.
As usual, there’s a light and dark option to accommodate display preferences.
The unifying wallpaper set is categorized into four distinct device groups, which might suggest Google’s ambitions for a larger flagship lineup.
Apart from that Android Authority has discovered probable colour options based on the names of wallpaper codenames.
The vanilla Pixel 9 may come with Jade, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain colors.
The Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL might come in Hazel, Obsidian, Porcelain, and Rose.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the much-anticipated successor to the Pixel Fold, may be sold at launch only in Obsidian and Porcelain—possibly branded as Gold.
Google’s naming rules and ultimate shade availability remain a mystery.
While the wallpaper leak provides an early view of Google’s aesthetic ambitions, the lack of actual specs keeps performance and camera details frustratingly hidden.
But with the Tensor G4 chip to head the lineup, Android enthusiasts have a lot to guess until Google’s traditional fall unveiling.
These images are just a taste of what the Pixel 9 series has in store.
But if you can’t get enough of the whirling, petal-infused backdrops, the full collection’s now online for the bold and eager.
