Google is set to reveal the Pixel 9 series on August 13, but a recent leak has already given us a sneak peek at the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold designs and colour options.
These images, shared by the tipster @MysteryLupin, show what we can expect from the new models.
The Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro both feature a single pill-shaped camera cutout on the back, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has dual pill-shaped cutouts.
Despite these design differences, the Pixel 9 includes a dual-camera setup, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold mirrors the Pixel 9 Pro with its triple-camera configuration on the back.
The Pixel 9 is expected to have a 6.3-inch “Actua” display, slightly larger than its predecessor’s 6.2-inch screen.
The cameras are rumoured to be 50MP and 48MP, respectively, with the ultrawide camera seeing a significant boost from the previous 12MP.
The selfie camera will remain at 10.5MP, the same as the previous model. Further details about the sensors are not yet available.
Although the renders show three models, a previous rumour suggests there will be four models in the Pixel 9 series: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
All models will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, which is expected to offer only minor improvements over last year’s Tensor G3. Some models may feature faster 45W charging.
Google has already confimed that new phones will be heavily integrated with Gemini AI features and will likely include other AI functionalities.
The Pixel 9 series will also come with seven years of security updates and Pixel Drops, which are software updates with new Pixel-exclusive features.
One such feature, Pixel Screenshots, allows users to save information for later reference, similar to Microsoft’s Recall feature.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is Google’s second foldable device and the first to be available in India. It is expected to have a larger display than its predecessor, featuring an 8-inch inner screen, up from 7.4 inches.
The new display will likely have a resolution of 2152 x 2076, reach 1,600 nits of peak brightness, and support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is rumoured to have a punch-hole camera on the left side of the inner screen, a design upgrade from the first fold’s bezel-mounted camera.
While we await the official announcement, these leaks give us an exciting glimpse of what’s to come with the Pixel 9 series.
