It’s a story as old as time itself.
A Pixel phone is around the corner but just like clockwork everywhere in the world leaks start to pop up painting a complete picture of the device.
The Pixel 8a is not going to be different.
The device has started appearing at international retailers, leading to in-person leaks which have given us a glimpse of the phone’s vibrant colour options, expected to be called “Bay” (blue) and “Mint” (green).
Both Pixel 8a models look subtle yet lovely in their respective colours.
There is a mix of a saturated and vibrant look, especially the blue variant but the slightly muted appearance of the green shade is appealing as well.
Although it doesn’t appear as electric as early leaks suggested, it’s still significantly more colourful than the “Mint” color on last year’s Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
The leaked Pixel 8a units come with the standard box packaging, including a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, a SIM ejector tool, a USB-A to USB-C adapter, and some paper manuals.
Interestingly, the leaker has made some surprising claims – the Pixel 8a is already being sold in some markets in Morocco, despite Google not sharing any official teasers or details about the Pixel 7a successor.
So much for secrecy.
Even so, while the leaks seem legitimate, it’s advisable to take them with a grain of salt until official announcements.
According to rumours, the Pixel 8a will feature a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1400 nits peak brightness.
It’s expected to be powered by Google’s in-house Tensor G3 chipset, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB of non-expandable storage.
The camera setup is said to include a 64MP primary camera with OIS, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 13MP front-facing selfie camera.
Additionally, the Pixel 8a is rumoured to run Android 14 out-of-the-box and pack a 4,500mAh battery with 27W fast charging support.
