Google has rolled out a new SAT preparation feature in its Gemini app, enabling students to take full-length practice tests for free. The update is targeted at high school students preparing for college admissions and it also strengthens Gemini’s positioning as a study and exam-prep assistant.
The feature is now live with SAT support introduced first. However, Google has indicated that additional standardised exams will be added in future updates.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the feature on X, describing it as a useful addition for students. “Helpful update for students, you can now take full practice SATs for free in the Gemini app. It uses vetted content from The Princeton Review and gives you feedback straight away. Starting with the SAT today, but more tests are on the way,” Pichai wrote.

With the new update, students can access complete SAT practice tests on demand directly within the Gemini app. The tests are designed to closely match the format and duration of the actual SAT exam and can be attempted without any subscription or payment.
To ensure accuracy and relevance, Google has partnered with The Princeton Review and is using its vetted SAT preparation content. This collaboration aims to offer students realistic exam-style questions rather than generic practice material.
Once a student completes a practice test, Gemini provides immediate feedback outlined with a detailed guide on what was your strong points in the test as well as highlighting where you need work more. Students can also take Gemini’s help in reviewing the incorrect answers and getting explanations.
This interactive feedback model allows learners to understand concepts in real time, identify repeated mistakes, and focus on specific problem areas without relying on external coaching resources.
Students can start a full SAT practice test in the Gemini app by following these steps:
Gemini also generates customised study plans based on a student’s practice test results. These plans are tailored to individual performance, with an emphasis on weaker sections and targeted revision strategies.
According to Google, this feature is designed to support both first-time SAT takers and students planning to retake the exam, allowing them to prepare at their own pace.
The SAT preparation feature is available globally through the Gemini app at no cost. Meanwhile, Google will be adding more standardised exams in the future, though no specific timelines have been announced.
