Following the footstep of popular apps such as Instagram, Messenger, iMessage and other, Google has announced to introduce emoji reactions feature.
The new feature will be available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customers, and users with personal Google Accounts in the coming weeks.
The move is aimed to provide a less formal alternative to comments to express your opinions about document content, Google Docs will soon add new emoji reactions feature.
After the addition of the emojis, users will be able to use emojis with options to accurately reflect your identity. Currently, you can add only comment to any document.
To offer host of options to its users, emoji set is updated to the latest version- Emoji 14.0. Google will also provide gender-neutral options for gender-modifiable emojis.

According to the update shared by the Google in a blogpost, emoji button will appear on the top right side of the document after selecting a word or a passage on the document. By clicking on the icon, users will be able to see the emoji picker with a search bar and a separate section for frequently used emojis.
The new feature will be ON by default and cannot be disabled by the user. To access reactions in Docs, hover over any message or an existing anchor and click on the “Add reaction” icon. Additionally, emoji preferences are shared with Google Chat, so any preferences set in one app will be reflected in the other. Both apps can be used to update emoji preferences via the picker.
