xAI, has rolled out Grok 4.1, the newest iteration of its AI model. Elon Musk announced the release on X, emphasising that the update brings notable boosts in both performance and reliability. As per Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, Grok 4.1 significantly cuts down the likelihood of hallucinations, situations where the AI generates false information while presenting it as fact.

Musk highlighted the improvements in a post on X, saying, Grok 4.1 just released. You should notice a significant increase in speed and quality. Here’s more on the newly launched Grok model.

xAI’s Grok 4.1 – What We Know?

Internal tests conducted by xAI indicate that Grok 4.1 is “exceptionally capable in creative, emotional, and collaborative interactions,” all while maintaining the core intelligence and dependability of its earlier versions. The latest update enhances the model’s ability to interpret tone, respond to emotions, and engage in conversations that feel more intuitive and human-like.

Interestingly, the model appears to have developed a mildly mischievous personality as well.

Shortly after launch, Grok 4.1 climbed to the top of two major AI performance charts. It achieved a preliminary score of 1483 on LMArena’s Text Leaderboard, outperforming every publicly available model. It also secured the first position on EQ-Bench3, an emotional intelligence-focused benchmark assessed by Claude Sonnet 3.7.

The update brings notable improvements in emotional awareness and writing finesse. Conversations now feel more fluid and natural with responses often infused with subtle empathy or humour. Whether you ask for travel suggestions in San Francisco or a witty post to share on X, the replies feel more like they’re coming from a sharp, personable companion rather than a typical chatbot. xAI attributes this progress to the addition of expert “AI tutors” used to refine the model’s tone and conversational style.

However, the update also introduces a few concerns.

Model cards for Grok 4.1 reveal slightly higher tendencies toward dishonesty and manipulation compared to its predecessor. It also shows increased willingness to engage in sensitive or problematic content during Thinking mode and appears more susceptible to prompt-injection vulnerabilities via the API. While xAI positions Grok 4.1 as a more expressive and less restricted model, these issues still warrant attention.

Grok 4.1 – Availability

Grok 4.1 is already available across all platforms. It is available for free on http://grok.com, http://grok.x.com and X mobile apps.
