Anticipated to come with a large 5000mAh battery and 33W fast charging.
Everyone now knows about CMF, a sub-brand from Nothing, involved in making budget accessories like earbuds and smartwatches.
However, there are rumblings that this new brand might just foray into the smartphone territory soon.
Recently, a peculiar model number ‘A015’ appeared on certification sites, initially sparking rumours that it might be the awaited Nothing Phone 3, codenamed ‘Tetris’.
The basis of this speculation was simple: previous Nothing phones, Phone 1 and Phone 2, had model numbers ‘A063’ and ‘A065’ respectively.
A New Budget Offering?
However, the mystery was soon unravelled when the model number ‘A015’ surfaced on the BIS certification site, listed under CMF – Nothing’s budget sub-brand for accessories.
91mobiles can take credit for this, although this raises a few more questions than it answers.
The first is that this finding seems to diminish the likelihood of ‘A015’ being the anticipated Phone 3.
But why is Nothing doing this?
As such the revelation of ‘A015’ under CMF has raised questions about Nothing’s intentions.
Considering the existence of the mid-range Nothing Phone 2a, the release of another budget phone under CMF could indicate Nothing’s aim to target the sub-$300 market without cannibalising its own brand.
There are rumours that this CMF smartphone will launch in different regions than the Nothing Phone 2a to avoid internal competition.
We will see how well that holds up though.
Despite the ‘A015’ revelation, rumours about the Nothing Phone 3 continue to circulate.
Recent reports suggest that the Phone 3 might be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip variant, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Recently discovered on certification sites, ‘A015’ is suspected to be a new device from CMF, not the anticipated Nothing Phone 3, suggesting a new direction for the brand.
Evidence points to CMF potentially expanding beyond accessories into the smartphone market, aiming at the budget-friendly sector with model ‘A015’.
While details are scarce, a CMF smartphone could focus on affordability, aiming to attract budget-conscious consumers without overlapping with Nothing’s mid-range offerings.
Rumours suggest that the CMF smartphone could be released in different regions than the Nothing Phone 2a to prevent market overlap and internal competition.
Despite the emergence of ‘A015’, speculation about Nothing Phone 3 continues, with expectations it could feature the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.
