This is in addition to the production of iPhone 17 at its Chennai unit,” an ET report noted. The Bengaluru facility, spread across 300 acres near the airport in Doddaballapur and Devanahalli taluks, was acquired in 2023. It is now Foxconn’s second-largest manufacturing unit after its Longhua factory in China. With an investment of around INR 25,000 crore, the site is expected to reach an annual capacity of 20 million smartphones. The factory began operations last year and is now contributing to iPhone 17 production. Apple has been heavily reliant on China for iPhone production previously, accounting for approximately 80% of its iPhone production. It is no news that the Cupertino Giant is actively working to diversify its supply chain by shifting some manufacturing to India and other countries.
