Now, we’re getting a first look at the second Android XR headset in the works, XREAL’s “Project Aura.” Announced during Google I/O 2025, alongside Google’s new partnership with Warby Parker, XREAL revealed it’s developing an Android XR headset that’s designed to be “optical see-through.” This means it blends real-world views with digital overlays, using the company’s experience in making lightweight XR hardware. There’s still a lot we don’t know about what Aura can do, but it looks relatively compact in early images. It’ll be powered by a Snapdragon XR chipset, which is designed for smooth, lag-free AR performance, including features like spatial tracking and real-time visuals. XREAL said, “This collaboration also includes Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., bringing together leading innovation across hardware, silicon, and software to build the next wave of XR experiences.
