In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Mark Gurman reveals, “Apple is apparently adding a second, portrait-side front-facing camera to the upcoming M5 iPad Pro, presumably so FaceTimers and selfie fans can use the device equally well in either orientation. This isn’t particularly revolutionary, but it’s a nice enhancement.”

The update appears aimed at addressing user complaints that arose after Apple relocated the front-facing camera to the landscape edge in the M4 model. Some users found the change inconvenient for video calls and selfies when holding the iPad vertically.

Interestingly, despite not seeing widespread criticism from iPad Pro users regarding the camera’s new placement, it’s still a bit surprising to see Apple taking this step.
