Apple has just announced eight new emojis that will officially arrive on iPhones as part of the iOS 18.4 update. These new additions have been selected from the Unicode Consortium’s September 2024 recommendations and will be available on the standard emoji keyboard once the update rolls out in late March or early April.

Keith Broni, editor in chief of Emojipedia, which is also part of the Unicode Consortium, shared the new Apple emoji designs in a recent blog post. It was also confirmed that these emojis are set to become a permanent part of the iPhone keyboard.
According to Broni, the iOS 18.4 update will introduce the following emojis to Apple devices –
Right now, these emojis are only available in beta, but soon, iPhone users will be able to send a colorful fingerprint, a bright purple splatter, or even the flag of the island of Sark.
While all the new emojis are exciting, the ‘face with bags under eyes’ emoji has already become a fan favorite. Apple users have taken to social media to share their enthusiasm as one user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “That eye bag emoji is about to become my most used.”

These emojis are currently part of Apple’s iOS 18.4 beta test, where early users can try them out before the general release. Once the update rolls out in late March or early April, they’ll be available to everyone.
Since tech companies like Apple, Samsung, and Meta customise emoji designs for their platforms, the final look may vary slightly.
