Apple is getting ready to announce a major round of updates at WWDC this year, which kicks off on June 9. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this year’s event will bring major design changes, not just for iOS 19 but also for watchOS, tvOS, macOS 16 and even visionOS.
We already knew that iOS 19 for iPhone and iPad would feature a big visual refresh. Now it looks like Apple is planning to update the design across all its platforms, creating a more unified and modern look.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says that both the Apple Watch and Apple TV software will get significant redesigns. He also notes that visionOS will receive some UI “adjustments.”
This means Apple is aiming for one consistent design style across all its devices. Expect more transparency, glass-like effects, updated icons and changes to how you navigate inside apps.
Hints of this new look can already be seen in the WWDC 2025 artwork, which shows a shiny, reflective 3D icon of the Apple Park rainbow stage. That same translucent, glassy feel is expected to show up across Apple’s platforms.
While Apple Watch software has seen several updates over the years, Apple TV’s operating system tvOS hasn’t changed much since it launched in 2015. Right now, it still feels visually different from iOS. But that’s about to shift as Apple works to bring all its software into visual alignment. Gurman calls it the biggest OS redesign since iOS 7.
A lot of the upcoming changes are inspired by the sleek interface of visionOS, introduced last year with the Apple Vision Pro. Even so, Apple plans to fine-tune that UI as well to better fit this broader design push.
All these updates will be officially revealed in just two weeks. The WWDC 2025 keynote begins at 10 AM Pacific Time on June 9.
