The Mate 80 Air, Huawei’s ultra-thin flagship, is expected to launch in China next month, according to the latest leaks. At first, it was speculated that the smartphone was delayed. It may even be launched in early 2027. The company, however, has shifted the launch timeline to the end of the year with a major product release.
The Mate 80 Air launch follows the success of last year’s Mate 70 Air, delivering an outstanding combination of high-end performance and a sleek, ultra-slim chassis. Among other upcoming devices like the MatePad Mini 2, Huawei is positioning the Mate 80 Air as a competitor in the premium slim-phone market.

As per the leaks, the Huawei Mate 80 Air is scheduled to debut in December 2026 in China. While earlier reports suggested Huawei might hold off until early 2027 to avoid overlapping with its foldable and sub-brand lineups, the company is bringing the ultra-thin smartphone to market just in time for the end-of-year launch cycle.

The Mate 80 Air smartphone is rumoured to be available in four colours: Obsidian Black, Spruce Green, Morning Gold, and Snow White.
