Xiaomi appears to have changed its plans for the Xiaomi 18 series in India. Just hours after the launch of both Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max in the Chinese market, reports about the possible India entry have been circulating online. Here’s what we know for now.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Max May Not Arrive in India
Xiaomi has reportedly dropped the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max from its India launch roadmap even though the device had previously entered software testing for the market.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max was listed in the GSMA database with the model number 2611FPNFAI. However, this model is now effectively out of Xiaomi’s India portfolio.
Instead, the Xiaomi 18 Pro identified by the 2609BPN61 model number is expected to be the only Xiaomi 18 series smartphone officially sold in India.
Xiaomi 18 Series India Launch Plans
Xiaomi is preparing to take the Xiaomi 18 Pro series to global markets in November 2026. The standard Xiaomi 18 will follow later and is expected to be available in China as well as other international markets.
India, however, will miss out on both the standard Xiaomi 18 and the Pro Max. This leaves the Xiaomi 18 Pro as the only model from the series that Indian buyers can officially purchase.
Those specifically interested in the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will therefore have to consider importing the device from another market if they want to use it in India.
What Indian Buyers Can Expect?
With the Pro Max reportedly removed from Xiaomi’s India plans, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will become the key model from the upcoming series for the Indian market. The standard Xiaomi 18 will also not receive an official India launch.
Xiaomi’s decision means buyers in India will have to choose the Pro model when the series arrives officially. Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will only be accessible through other markets or imports.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Specifications
Despite the absence of the Pro Max model, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will bring a flagship grade hardware. The phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset supported by LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
It comes with a a 6.4-inch TCL M11 LTPO AMOLED main panel with a 2436×1120 resolution. The screen can dynamically switch between 1Hz and 120Hz and is rated to reach up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. It will also offer 10-bit colour, a 300Hz touch sampling rate and full-range DC dimming. Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 will be used for protection.
The rear camera module will also be accompanied by a 2.7-inch AMOLED display. This secondary screen has a 912×596 resolution and supports a 120Hz refresh rate, with peak brightness similar to the primary display.
The camera system is another major feature of the Xiaomi 18 Pro. It will use three rear cameras with Leica Summilux optics. The primary camera is a 50-megapixel Light Hunter 960L sensor from SmartSens, specifically the SCC90XS, with optical image stabilisation. Alongside it will be a 50-megapixel OV51D ultra-wide camera and a 200-megapixel Samsung S5KHP5 periscope telephoto camera.
The telephoto sensor will provide 3.2x optical zoom and 12cm telephoto macro photography. For selfies, Xiaomi will equip the phone with a 50-megapixel OV50M front camera.
A 7,000mAh battery will power the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Xiaomi’s Surge P4 charging chip and Surge G2 battery management chip will handle the phone’s charging and battery management system. The smartphone will support 100W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging. It can also be used to charge other devices, with 27W wired reverse charging and 20W wireless reverse charging.
On the software side, the Xiaomi 18 Pro will ship with Android 17 and Xiaomi’s HyperOS 4.
