Xiaomi has officially announced the launch date of its upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series. According to the official communication, Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will be unveiled at its Autumn New Product Launch event on September 23 at 19:00 China time.
Xiaomi highlights five major upgrades for both Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, which means they will pack the same chipset, camera system and display technology. The key difference between the two models will be their battery capacities. Here’s more on what we know about the key specs so far.
Xiaomi 18 Pro – Up To 8,500mAh Battery
Battery capacity will be one of the main differences between the two Xiaomi 18 Pro models. Both phones will use Xiaomi’s GSR VIII battery technology, which features 32% silicon content.
The standard Xiaomi 18 Pro will pack a 7,000mAh battery, while the higher-end Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will feature a significantly larger 8,500mAh battery.
Xiaomi’s launch poster does not reveal the charging speeds of either phone. However, a 3C certification issued in August listed 100W wired charging for two Xiaomi models believed to be part of the upcoming series. This suggests that 100W charging could be supported, although Xiaomi has not confirmed the charging specification on the launch poster.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Gets a 2nm Chip
Xiaomi has confirmed that both upcoming phones in the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will use a flagship mobile platform manufactured using a 2nm GAA process. The company says the new platform will bring improvements in both performance and power efficiency.
According to multiple tech publications, the processor is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. It is being speculated because the timing of the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launch falls within Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit, which is scheduled to take place from September 22 to 24.
More information about the chipset could therefore emerge around the same period.
Xiaomi 18 Pro Series – Dual 200MP Leica Cameras And Super Pixel Display
The brand has also confirmed that both models will feature a Leica camera system with two 200-megapixel sensors.
One of the 200MP sensors will serve as the main camera and will use a large sensor. The second will be a large-sensor periscope telephoto camera. Xiaomi says this is the most advanced Leica camera system it has used on one of its numbered flagship series.
Xiaomi further confirms the phones will use a new-generation Super Pixel panel featuring its M11 light-emitting system and a new green light-emitting material. The company claims that this combination can provide higher brightness while consuming less power. Xiaomi has also worked on reducing the bezels, with the new screen packaging process bringing them down to just 0.99mm.
With the launch now just days away, Xiaomi is expected to reveal the official processor name, complete camera specifications and charging details at the event.
