Intel Corporation and the Tata Group have entered into a major strategic partnership aimed at accelerating India’s semiconductor manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the country’s position in the global electronics supply chain. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on December 8, 2025, marks a significant milestone in India’s push to build a “geo-resilient electronics and semiconductor supply chain.”

Under this alliance, both companies will explore opportunities in consumer and enterprise hardware development, semiconductor manufacturing, systems production and advanced packaging. The collaboration includes potential manufacturing and packaging of Intel products for the Indian market at Tata Electronics’ upcoming semiconductor Fab and OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facilities.

The two firms will also examine advanced packaging solutions to support the growing demand for next-generation compute products.

The partnership further extends into AI computing with Intel and Tata planning to scale India-centric AI PC solutions for both consumer and enterprise segments. India is projected to rank among the top five global markets for AI PCs by 2030 and this initiative will combine Intel’s AI compute reference designs with Tata Electronics strong Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) capabilities.

Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran emphasised the importance of the collaboration, stating, “The Tata Group is deeply committed to developing a robust semiconductor industry in India. We are excited to collaborate with Intel, and this strategic alliance would accelerate our efforts. Together, we will drive an expanded technology ecosystem and deliver leading semiconductors and systems solutions, positioning us well to capture the large and growing AI opportunity.”

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan echoed this confidence, highlighting India’s swift adoption of AI and computing technologies. He said, “Intel’s technology has driven decades of advancement in computing, and as we continue to innovate, our ambition is to broaden our reach, accelerate growth, and deliver even greater value to our customers. We see this as a tremendous opportunity to collaborate with Tata to rapidly scale in one of the world’s fastest-growing compute markets, fuelled by rising PC demand and rapid AI adoption across India.”

Dr. Randhir Thakur, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Electronics, noted that the partnership supports the company’s long-term vision across EMS, OSAT and semiconductor fabrication. “This MoU aligns with Tata Electronics’ roadmap across EMS, OSAT, and Semiconductor Fab, enabling a reliable and resilient supply chain for our customers. This collaboration would drive cost competitiveness, faster time-to-market, greater operational agility, and enable Intel products to capture the surging demand for next-generation AI compute in India,” he said.
