Latest leak suggests Vivo is working on its next flagship lineup, the Vivo X500 series that includes a high-end model believed to be the Vivo X500 Pro Max. The information comes from tipster named Smart Pikachu on Weibo and shed some light on display options and camera upgrades expected in the upcoming series. Here’s more on that.
According to the leak (via Gizmochina), the Vivo X500 series could arrive in multiple display sizes including 6.4-inch and 6.9-inch variants. The larger model is expected to be branded as the Vivo X500 Max, while the lineup may also include a mid-sized flagship featuring a 6.59-inch display.
The Vivo X500 Pro Max is said to be undergoing testing with a 50-megapixel primary camera that uses LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology. This advanced sensor design helps prevent overexposure in bright scenes by storing excess electrons in a capacitor and significantly enhancing dynamic range and overall image quality.
In addition to the main sensor, the smartphone is tipped to feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, which could offer advanced zoom capabilities. The leak also suggests that Vivo is considering adding a multispectral sensor to improve colour accuracy and white balance.
This setup may also include a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera although not explicitly confirmed.
Other reports indicate that the standard Vivo X500 could be powered by the Dimensity 9600 chipset, while a higher-end model such as the Vivo X600 Pro Max may feature the more advanced Dimensity 9600 Pro variant.
The standard chip is expected to be built on a 3nm process possibly based on an improved version of the Dimensity 9500+ architecture. Meanwhile, the Pro variant is rumoured to adopt a 2nm-class architecture with a dual ultra-core setup and clock speeds approaching 5GHz aiming to deliver significant gains in performance and power efficiency.
The Vivo X500 series is expected to debut in China in September this year. The launch event may also see the introduction of the company’s first dedicated vlogging camera expanding its product ecosystem further.
