Vivo has started teasing the arrival of the Vivo X Fold 6 in China over the past few weeks now. The company recently confirmed that its next-generation foldable smartphone will be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset, which is a shift from the Snapdragon processors that Vivo has traditionally used in its foldable lineup. Now, Vivo Product Vice President Huang Tao and Han Boxia, Product Manager at Vivo Communication Technology, have revealed more details about the upcoming device through separate posts on Weibo. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming foldable so far.

According to Vivo, the X Fold 6 has been developed with the goal of combining a large-screen foldable experience with AI-driven productivity features. One of the key additions is an upgraded Atomic Workbench feature that allows users to run multiple applications simultaneously on the large inner display.

The feature is powered by OriginOS 6 Fold and the new Dimensity 9500 chipset. Vivo says the platform has been specifically optimised for foldable smartphones and AI-related workloads. The company claims the chipset’s NPU delivers 111 percent higher performance while reducing power consumption by 56 percent helping provide a smoother multitasking experience for productivity-focused users.

A promotional video shared on Weibo also highlights improvements to multitasking compared to the previous-generation model. The upgraded Atomic Workbench can reportedly display four app windows at the same time with seamless resizing support.

Users can also keep four smaller app windows positioned above or beside a primary application and switch between them effortlessly. The demonstrations suggest a fluid multitasking experience although it remains unclear whether these software capabilities will be available on any future global variant or remain exclusive to the Chinese market.

Refined Design and New Blue Hole Colour

The Vivo X Fold 6 is said to feature more rounded corners and a refined metal frame designed to improve comfort during everyday use while maintaining a slim and lightweight profile.

The camera system is expected to be one of the biggest highlights of the Vivo X Fold 6. Vivo has officially confirmed a 200-megapixel primary camera based on Samsung’s HPB sensor. The sensor features a 1/1.4-inch size, an f/1.68 aperture, and CIPA 4.5-level image stabilisation.

The company has also confirmed that the X Fold 6 will become the first foldable smartphone to feature a ZEISS APO-certified periscope telephoto camera powered by Sony’s LYT-602 sensor. Moreover, the foldable will support the Vivo ZEISS Teleconverter G2 allowing an equivalent focal length of up to 200mm for capturing distant subjects, concerts, and sporting events.

Samsung Display With Eye Protection Features

For the display, Vivo has confirmed an 8.02-inch inner screen that uses Samsung’s latest M14 emissive material. Both the inner and outer displays are capable of reaching a peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

The foldable will also include a dedicated 1-nit low-brightness mode for comfortable viewing in dark environments. In addition, the device carries TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 certification.

Desktop Mode Aims to Replace a PC

The Vivo X Fold 6 will also offer a desktop mode similar to Samsung DeX. When connected to an external display, the foldable can function as a PC replacement with the smartphone serving as a mouse substitute.

The interface transforms into a desktop-like environment featuring window management tools and traditional desktop-style icons providing a more computer-like experience for productivity tasks.
