Highlights WhatsApp is testing an optional premium subscription called “WhatsApp Plus,” which includes new features. This subscription primarily offers customisation options, such as new themes, icons, and app look changes. Core messaging features will remain free for all users, with no restrictions. WhatsApp is preparing to launch a new paid option called “WhatsApp Plus”, a major change from its usual free service. The main messaging features will still be free, but the new subscription will add premium features focused on customisation and appearance. What is WhatsApp Plus? WhatsApp Plus is an optional subscription that Meta is currently testing. Unlike the regular app, this paid version offers extra features for greater personalisation and a unique experience. Core messaging features will stay free, so everyone can keep using WhatsApp as usual. New Features: Focus on Customisation and Exclusivity A key feature of WhatsApp Plus is customisation. Subscribers may access advanced chat themes, letting them personalise their chats with different colours, wallpapers, and styles beyond the standard choices. This is aimed at people who like to personalise the appearance of their apps. Another possible feature is better profile customisation, which could let users be more creative with how their profiles look in the app. Cosmetic Upgrades with Functional Enhancements Most of the new features are about appearance, but they also aim to make the app easier to use. For example, better chat organisation and small interface changes could help subscribers navigate the app more easily. Some reports say WhatsApp Plus might let subscribers try new features before they are available to everyone else. User Experience: What Changes for Subscribers? Users who choose WhatsApp Plus can expect a more personalised and attractive app. Customising themes, icons, and other parts of the interface will let them make the app fit their style and preferences. WhatsApp Plus subscribers can also customise their app icon (Pic Credit: wabetainfo) Meanwhile, core features like messaging, calling, and media sharing will remain the same for everyone, whether they pay or not. This keeps WhatsApp simple and easy to use. If you don’t subscribe, your WhatsApp experience will mostly stay the same, with no features taken away. Pricing and Availability The exact price hasn’t been announced yet, but the subscription is expected to be affordable and will be introduced in different regions over time. WhatsApp is still testing it, and a bigger launch is likely soon. WhatsApp Plus shows that Meta is changing how it makes money, focusing on optional premium features instead of limiting basic services. By offering more ways to customise the app, WhatsApp hopes to reach more users and stay popular worldwide. FAQs Q 1. What is WhatsApp Plus?
