The company launched three smartphones in the S16 lineup, namely the S16e, S16 5G and S16 Pro. The S16 and S16 Pro came to India with some tweaked hardware in the form of the Vivo V27 series. Now, it looks like Vivo is already working on the successor models of the phones. The Vivo S17 series launch has been tipped. A new leak has revealed the key specifications of the S17 series. The Tech Outlook report claimed that the company would launch three smartphones in the lineup. Vivo is said to launch the S17, S17e and S17 Pro as part of the new S-series lineup. Vivo is tipped to launch a new smartphone series to launch its recently unveiled mid -premium series smartphones, the Vivo S16 series, in China. In a leak on the matter by The Tech Outlook, the Vivo S16 series is expected to be replaced by the Vivo S17 as early as July this year, and while the series will be geared towards China, some of the variants of the lineup could also launch globally, including in India, as Vivo V29. The latter, interestingly, will be a successor to the Vivo V27 series that was launched in India this month itself. Vivo V17 series: What we know so far Given that we are about four to six months away from the launch of the Vivo S17 series, and the fact that the Vivo S16 series was launched in China only in December last year, we understandably have a slim level of details about the new smartphone series. According to the leak report, the Vivo S17 series will have three models — a base S17e, a standard S17 and a top-end S17 Pro. Such lineup distribution will be in line with how the S16 series was also distributed. The Vivo S17 series is also tipped to feature between 8GB and 16GB of RAM, and 128GB and 256GB of storage. The base variant will feature 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, while one variant of the Vivo S17 Pro will likely offer 16GB RAM and 256G storage. However, all three models of the series are said to come with Super AMOLED dual-curved displays, and also feature colour-shifting paintjobs on the rear. In terms of the cameras, the report states that the primary rear cameras of all the models will feature optical image stabilisation, but does not offer further details. As a result, key details such as the chipset inside, camera specifications, battery and charging, and other areas in which the Vivo S17 would differ from the S16 remain unclear as of now. Its predecessor, the Vivo V27 in India, features the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC, along with 50MP triple rear camera setups and curved OLED displays, and it remains to be seen what their successor could additionally offer. Vivo S17 Series Launch Timeline, Specifications Tipped The Vivo S17 will feature three mid-range and premium smartphones in the lineup. The devices are expected to launch soon in China. According to the report by The Tech Outlook, the S17, S17 Pro and S17e have the model numbers V2283A, V2284A, and V2285A, respectively. The report claims that some of the models in the lineup are likely to launch outside China in the form of the Vivo V29 series. It also revealed some key specifications and features of the phones. The S17 series is said to feature a Super AMOLED display. All three models are said to sport a curved-edge display. In addition to this, there will be a colour-changing rear panel variant as well. In terms of RAM and storage, the S17 series will offer up to 12GB of RAM. The base model will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Select variants might get an 8GB + 256GB storage option, whereas some of the top-end options will offer 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The S17 Pro will be the only phone in the lineup to come with 16GB of RAM. There will be support for Extended RAM, as expected. The phones are also expected to offer optical image stabilisation (OIS) support for the main camera. At the moment, details about the camera hardware, including the number of sensors is under wraps. Vivo is said to launch the S17 series in the third quarter of 2023. This means that the phones could debut between July and September 2023 in China. We are still months away from the Chinese launch of the S17 series. Therefore, the India launch of the phones in the form of the V29 series will also take quite some time. Vivo has not officially confirmed any detail about the launch of the S17 series. The V27 series recently went on sale in India. The lineup comprises two models currently in India.
