Improvement follows previous iterations from iOS 11 and 13, making the process more intuitive. Apple's iOS 17 brings a host of changes, but one subtle yet significant improvement is grabbing the attention of many: the revamped QR code scanning process in the Camera app. This alteration in iOS 17 ensures a more intuitive and user-friendly experience. Here's a deep dive into what has changed and how it enhances usability. QR Code Scanning in Previous iOS Versions When Apple first incorporated the QR code scanning feature into the Camera app with iOS 11, users were presented with a pop-up window that resembled a push notification situated at the top of the interface. This was then modified in iOS 13, introducing a yellow button inside the camera viewfinder. However, this design had its challenges. As users moved the camera, the yellow button shifted its position too, making it feel like a chase game to tap on the QR code button. Now, upon scanning a QR code, users will notice the linked button comfortably positioned at the bottom of the camera interface, right above the camera shutter button. This static location eliminates the need for users to chase the button around the screen, making QR code scanning more seamless. This change is particularly noteworthy as QR codes have become more prevalent, especially post-pandemic. However, there's still scope for improvement. A larger yellow button could further enhance the touch experience, but Apple's decision to relocate the button in iOS 17 is undoubtedly a step toward better user experience.
