Highlights Galaxy Z Fold 6 tested by JerryRigEverything Dust penetrated the hinge despite IP48 rating Part of the phone caught fire during teardown Samsung offers Galaxy Z Assurance for screen care The YouTube channel JerryRigEverything recently put Samsung's new Galaxy Z Fold 6 through some extreme tests. These tests are much tougher than normal use, but they help show how strong the phone really is. The tests included scratching the screen, bending the phone, and even setting it on fire. For the most part, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 did okay in these tests. But there were two things that raised some concerns. Dust and Fire: Two Unexpected Problems Galaxy Z Fold 6 Faces Durability Challenges and Catches on Fire in Extreme Tests First, there's the dust test. Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating, which means it should resist some dust and water. But in this test, more dust got into the hinge than with last year's model. This made the hinge make uncomfortable noises. The second, more worrying issue happened when the tester was taking the phone apart. Surprisingly, part of the phone caught fire. This wasn't because of the tough tests earlier. It happened when the tester was carefully taking off layers of the screen. A small cable inside the phone seemed to cause the fire, not the battery. The tester noted this didn't happen with older Galaxy Fold models. Durability Concerns? Samsung says the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has an IP48 rating It's important to remember that these tests are much tougher than how people normally use their phones. The fire happened during a complete teardown of the device, which most users would never do. However, the dust issue is something to think about. If you live in a dusty area or often use your phone at the beach, you might want to be extra careful with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Galaxy Z Fold 6 tested by JerryRigEverything Samsung seems to know that foldable phones might need extra care. They're offering something called "Galaxy Z Assurance" for Fold 6 buyers. This gives users one free screen protector replacement and cheaper screen repairs for two years. While the fire issue is concerning, it's not likely to happen during normal use. The dust problem might be more relevant for everyday users.
