Xiaomi has now lifted the lid on the Redmi 12 after several detailed leaks. According to Xiaomi's Thai website, the Redmi 12 relies on the Helio G88, a mid-range chipset that MediaTek released in 2020. For reference, the Helio G88 contains two ARM Cortex-A75 CPU cores clocked at 2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores restricted to 1.8 GHz and a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU that peaks at 1 GHz. Xiaomi complements the mid-range chipset with LPDDR4x RAM and eMMC 5.1 flash storage, plus a 5,000 mAh battery that recharges at up to 18 W. Additionally, the Redmi 12 packs a 6.79-inch IPS display with a 2,460 x 1,080-pixel resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. However, the handset can vary its display refresh rate between 36 Hz, 48 Hz, 60 Hz and 90 Hz to reduce power consumption. Elsewhere, the Redmi 12 has a MicroSD card reader for up to 1 TB of storage expansion, along with 50 MP primary, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 8 MP front-facing cameras. The device also runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13, unlike some other recent mid-range Xiaomi smartphones like the POCO X5.
