Apple launched the new Mac mini with M2 and M2 pro with the 14 inch & 16 inch MacBook Pro powered by the M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets. These are the newest silicon processors from Apple that boast of incredible power efficiency, performance, and battery life, among other things. Apple claims the new MacBook Pro models with the M2 Pro and M2 Max under the hood can take on demanding tasks such as effects rendering up to 6x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro. The M1 chip in the Mac mini is Apple's first System on a Chip for Mac, integrating GPU, CPU, RAM, and other components for improved performance and efficiency. The M1 in the Mac mini has an 8-core CPU with four high-efficiency cores and four high-performance cores along with an integrated GPU that has 8 cores. In the Mac mini, the M1 chip's CPU offers 3x faster performance than the previous-generation entry-level model and the GPU offers 6x better graphics performance. Machine learning workloads are up to 15x faster thanks to the 16-core Neural Engine, and the Mac mini is 5x faster than the best-selling Windows desktop in its price range. There are no design changes to the Mac mini, and it continues to feature a flat, square-shaped 1.4-inch thick, 7.7-inch wide aluminum unibody enclosure. The M1 Mac mini is available in Silver, while the Intel Mac mini is available in Space Gray. Apple says the M1 Mac mini's advanced thermal design sustains performance while the machine remains cool and quiet. It is configurable with up to 16GB RAM, while the Intel model can support up to 64GB. Both models can be upgraded to up to 2TB storage space. The M1 Mac mini supports a single display in full 6K resolution and one 4K display over HDMI, while the prior-generation models support up to two 5K displays. M2 also adds ProRes acceleration to Mac mini, so tasks like video editing in Final Cut Pro are more than twice as fast, according to the company. Mac Mini with M2 Pro features a 12-core CPU with eight high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, along with up to a 19-core GPU, M2 Pro has 200GB/s of memory bandwidth. It supports up to 32GB of memory. The next-generation Neural Engine is 40 percent faster than M1, speeding up ML tasks like video analysis and image processing, according to the blog. M2 Pro offers a powerful media engine, which speeds through the most popular video codecs and can simultaneously play up to five streams of 8K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps, or up to 23 streams of 4K ProRes 422 video at 30 fps. The M2 Pro-powered model is up to 14x faster than the fastest Intel-based Mac mini, Apple claims. Apple Mac mini Advanced Connectivity Mac mini continues to deliver extensive connectivity with a wide range of ports. The M2 model features two Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to two displays. The M2 Pro model includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to three displays. Additionally, the M2 Pro model can support one 8K display, a first for the Mac. Both models feature two USB-A ports, an HDMI port, a Gigabit Ethernet port with a 10GB option, and an upgraded headphone jack to support high-impedance headphones. For wireless connectivity, both new models also feature the latest standards with Wi-Fi 6E5 for up to 2x faster throughput than before, as well as Bluetooth 5.3. Mac mini Desktop Experience with Studio Display and Magic Accessories Paired with Studio Display and Magic accessories, Mac mini delivers a phenomenal desktop experience. The Mac mini supports up to 16GB of unified memory, with the base model shipping with 8GB. Apple Mac mini GPU The 8-core GPU in the M1 chip is integrated (which means it is not a separate chip), and Apple calls it the world's fastest integrated graphics in a personal computer. It can execute 25,000 threads at a time and combines improved graphics performance with lower power consumption. According to Apple, the GPU in the M1 can render a timeline up to 6x faster in Final Cut Pro and editing high-resolution photos with Affinity Photo is up to 4x faster. When doing simple tasks like browsing the web or reading email the Mac mini will engage the high-efficiency cores, but for more system-intensive tasks like photo and video editing, the high-performance cores are used. According to Apple, the M1 chip's CPU is up to 3x faster than the Intel chip in the prior Mac mini, and GPU speeds are up to 6x faster. The M1 is designed to offer higher performance at every power level compared to competing laptop chips. It offers 2x faster CPU performance than the latest PC laptop chip while using 25 percent of the power. ProRes transcoding is up to 3.4x faster with the M1 chip, building a project in Xcode is up to 3x faster, and Logic Pro supports 2.8x more Amp Designer plug-ins. Apple Mac mini RAM Base M1 models come with 8GB RAM, which can be customized up to 16GB. Higher-end Intel models support up to 64GB RAM.
