HIGHLIGHTS * Samsung Galaxy S24 series could come with a faster charging speed compared to the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. * For this, Samsung is reportedly planning to use stacked batteries. * This technology could be limited to only two models though due to limited production capacity. * Samsung Galaxy S24 series is likely to launch in Q1 2024 * Galaxy S24 Ultra could be equipped with a 5,000mAh (rated value) battery * It may offer 65W fast charging Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, according to a tweet from a Samsung leaker, is expected to feature the largest-ever battery witnessed on a Samsung flagship smartphone. The Galaxy S24 Plus is also tipped to house the same-sized battery. However, the Ultra variant, being a premium model, may offer the fastest charging capabilities seen on a Samsung phone. The Galaxy S24 series is reportedly in the works and is likely to launch in the first quarter of 2024. While the Galaxy S23 lineup was made available with the Snapdragon chip across the world, it is speculated that the Galaxy S24 series will be made available in Exynos 2400 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 variants in different markets. Samsung could bump the charging power on the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, according to a new tip. The current Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra offer up to 45W fast charging while the vanilla S23 only gets 25W, and this has been the same since 2019. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra On the Galaxy S24 series, the fast charging speed could go up to 65W from the current 45W. When it comes to battery capacity, the Galaxy S24+ and Ultra are said to pack a 5,000mAh battery. This remains unchanged from the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung released its first phone with support for 45W wired charging in 2019 (Galaxy Note10+) and hasn’t moved an inch above that. In fact, 45W is still quite rare in Samsung’s line-up. Things may finally start to change with the arrival of stacked batteries, which is tech borrowed from EVs. According to @RGCloudS, the stacked battery will be featured in the Galaxy S24 Ultra and possibly the S24+. It depends on the supply chain – currently Samsung is just running tests with batteries made at a Chinese plant as the plant in Cheonan is still waiting for manufacturing equipment to arrive. One of the advantages of stacked batteries is faster charging – the S24 Ultra will go up to 65W (up from 45W for the 2023 model). Both the S24 Ultra and S24+ batteries will reportedly have 5,000mAh capacity, but the Ultra will have additional cooling, allowing it to hit the higher charge rate. Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Charging There may not be enough production capacity to also upgrade the small Galaxy S24, which could be stuck at 25W for yet another year. Once the stacked battery tech proves itself (and supply constraints are lifted), however, it could be used in the future Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 too. By the way, Apple is expected to use stacked batteries for all iPhone 15 models. Samsung Galaxy S24 series stacked batteries: might be reserved for top of the line models Samsung is planning to use stacked batteries in the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra, according to tipster RGcloudS. Stacking, as opposed to winding technology that is currently in use, helps improve charging and performance as well and is the same technology that is used in EVs. Apple’s iPhone 15 series is also using stacked batteries, according to the tipster. However, this will be limited to the Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra due to limited production. There’s also a possibility that it might even be reserved only for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This could mean that the Galaxy S24 will continue with 25W fast charging but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. 25W fast charging The tipster adds that on the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the stacked batteries will come with a cooling gel so that there’s less heat dissipation from the phone. There’s still no confirmation though as Samsung is currently running tests, and it would take some time to finalise on which models this battery tech will be used. Samsung is currently prepping for its next Unpacked event scheduled to take place on July 26th. It’s where Samsung will unveil its next-gen foldables, most likely the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. We could see more devices including the Galaxy Tab S8 series, new Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch as well. Ans) Samsung may finally allow its flagship Android smartphones to charge faster than they have for generations in 2024. This upgrade is said to come courtesy of new battery tech developed along the same lines as those intended for electric vehicles. Then again, the upgrade may be exclusive to the top-end variant of the Galaxy S24 series - whereas Apple might also use it for the entire iPhone 15 line-up. Samsung may have chosen to leave the Galaxy Note name behind; nevertheless, the S Pen-toting S23 Ultra has inherited the nearly 4-year-old 10+'s maximum charging speed. The OEM calls the persistent, yet stagnating, 45W rate a "Super Fast Charging" standard for smartphones - regardless of how many other brands race ahead with technology that can charge batteries of the same size as the premium Ultra variant in half the time or less, using similar USB type-C ports. However, things might finally start to improve for the Galaxy S24 Ultra on its release. The leaker RGcloudS backs it to introduce a new type of battery, developed by Samsung's SDI division for faster and more reliable charging. This is because it apparently ports the advanced stacked structure also designed with electric cars in mind to Android smartphones for the first time. Samsung's inaugural stacked battery is now believed to feature in the S23 Ultra's successor - and that of the S23+ if it is very, very lucky. That detail sounds reasonable - until it meets with the concurrent rumor that Apple has upgraded the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus to the same technology as well as the higher-end 15 Pro and Pro Max. Then again, the S24 Ultra just might be able to call the equally cutting-edge "cooling gel" thermal management system for its new battery its own. Nevertheless, for all this putative (and long overdue) advancement in Samsung mobile device power tech, it is also slated to raise the Ultra's top charging speed to no more than 65W - thereby still lagging behind even mid-rangers from other brands in 2023. 2) Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra tipped to feature 5,000mAh+ battery, 65W fast charging.Details? Ans) The latest leak suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and S24+ will come equipped with a 5,000mAh stacked battery (rated value), indicating that its typical capacity could be approximately 5,100mAh. For those who don’t know, a stacked battery has a higher density, offers better performance, and charges faster. Comparatively, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s battery had a rated value of 4,855mAh and a typical value of 5,000mAh. This information strongly suggests that the Galaxy S24+ and S24 Ultra could feature the most substantial batteries ever seen in a Samsung smartphone. The tipster added that Samsung may implement stacked battery technology on the Galaxy S24+ or S24 Ultra, or only on the S24 Ultra. He added that the structure of the S24 Ultra’s stacked battery system is different as it includes a cooling gel for 65W fast charging and stability. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy S22 Ultra are among the recent Samsung flagship models that offer support for rapid charging up to 45W. Consequently, it seems likely that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will claim the title of Samsung’s fastest-charging smartphone. However, it appears that the retail package of the device may not include a 65W charger. Samsung has not yet finalised any of the information that the tipster shared. The tipster has learned from an insider that the stacked equipment required for the mentioned devices has not yet arrived at Samsung’s plant in Cheonan, South Korea. Currently, Samsung is said to be carrying out a trial run in a pilot plant located in China. In contrast, it is anticipated that Apple will adopt stacked battery technology for the entire iPhone 15 lineup. Samsung, on the other hand, may introduce this technology in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, with a projected launch in July or August 2024. 3) Galaxy S24 Ultra may get a substantial battery upgrade and faster charging.Details? Ans) The Galaxy S24 Ultra might become Samsung’s first flagship phone to adopt 65W fast charging technology. To achieve this, the company is working on adapting the stacked design from EV (electric vehicle) batteries to work with mobile devices. A new rumor says that Samsung is in the stages of prototyping stacked batteries for smartphones (via @RGcloudS). Previous reports said the company is gearing up to start production at its Cheonan plant in Seoul, but the latest rumor claims that manufacturing equipment required for producing stacked batteries has not yet arrived at the Cheonan plant. The rumor also states that Samsung is running a pilot manufacturing run for stacked batteries in China. However, limited quantities might prevent the tech giant from applying the upgraded battery technology to the entire Galaxy S24 lineup. Stacked-type smartphone batteries bring several advantages, from higher density to better performance and improved charging. However, rumors say that Samsung might have to reserve this upgrade to its top-tier Galaxy S24 Ultra. In the best-case scenario, Samsung might have enough stacked batteries in 2024 to power the Galaxy S24+ and the Galaxy S24 Ultra alike. Even then, Samsung will reportedly be hindered by limited supply and may have to restrict the base Galaxy S24 model from using this new technology. It is possible that the base Galaxy S24 will stick to 25W charging, while the rest of the series, or at least the Galaxy S24 Ultra, will boast 65W charging speeds and higher capacities. Looking further into 2024, it’s also possible that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6 will use stacked batteries.
