Highlights Apple reportedly shifting from leather cases to a new material dubbed "FineWoven." Leaker DuanRui reveals mockup images of "FineWoven" cases, though accuracy is uncertain. Apple's previous use of 'woven' descriptor for Apple Watch bands fuels speculation. Rumours are rife about Apple's impending shift from traditional leather iPhone cases to an innovative alternative. Multiple sources, including trusted leaker DuanRui, suggest the tech giant is set to introduce a new material they plan to call "FineWoven." However, as Apple moves away from leather, questions linger over whether this change will redefine smartphone aesthetics or falter in the attempt. Uncertainties Surround "FineWoven" The name "FineWoven" might be something of a mouthful, raising doubts about its accuracy. DuanRui recently shared case images bearing the "FineWoven" name but cautioned that these could be counterfeit products. The images appear to be photoshopped, and DuanRui clarified that they serve as mockups, based on new official Apple cases. Possible Design Inspiration Apple has used the descriptor 'woven' in the past, particularly for its Apple Watch bands, which could point toward the new case design featuring a woven texture. Leaked case images earlier this week do show a woven fabric texture, which some have likened to suede. While not verified, the texture appears to be a far cry from the standard smooth or pebbled leather that Apple fans have come to expect. Bloomberg Confirms New Material Adding fuel to the fire, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg has confirmed that Apple is planning to use "new materials" to replace the traditional leather cases. While the specific material has not been confirmed, the reporting leans toward the possibility that Apple's days of leather iPhone cases are numbered. Official Announcement Awaited Whether "FineWoven" turns out to be the official name or not, what's certain is that leather seems to be on its way out. Apple will be holding it iPhone event on September 12 where more clarity should be offered. Until then, these details remain speculative, based on multiple reports from trusted leakers.
