The move gives independent developers and app makers the opportunity to build experiences that integrate AI and camera-based functions across areas like fitness, productivity, entertainment, and food delivery. Here’s all we know so far. ‘B by Lenskart’ - Building India’s Wearables Ecosystem Through this initiative, Lenskart wants to turn its smartglasses into a developer-friendly platform rather than just a lifestyle gadget. The company’s long-term vision is to create India’s first complete wearables ecosystem, where hardware, software, and AI work together seamlessly under one platform. The ‘B by Lenskart’ glasses have been developed entirely in India and are expected to hit the market by December 2025. Meanwhile, the onboard AI assistant powered by Gemini 2.5 Live handles everything from voice control and live translation to UPI payments and wellness insights. Lenskart plans to draw on its strong retail presence, data-driven customer insights, and vertically integrated manufacturing to push wider adoption of smartglasses in India. The brand has also invested in XR and AI startups including Ajna Lens, as part of its strategy to build a robust tech stack that supports future innovations in wearable computing. According to industry projections, the global smartglasses market could be worth USD 4–5 billion by 2030, growing at an estimated 30% CAGR.
