Samsung has finally started teasing its next-generation foldable smartphone ahead of the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The Korean tech giant hinted at a noticeably wider foldable device for the first time by posting short videos on social media. Rumours and reports so far have widely referred to this majorly redesigned Samsung foldable as the “Galaxy Z Fold Wide.“ Here’s more on recent teasers.
Samsung Indirectly Teases Wider Galaxy Z Fold Design
Samsung India’s official Instagram page posted a few teaser videos recently. These video teasers do not reveal the smartphone directly but instead use unusually shaped everyday objects such as a broken chocolate bar and an incomplete puzzle to hint at a new aspect ratio for its upcoming foldable.

The teasers suggest a shorter and wider folded design, which could make the outer display feel more like a regular smartphone while also offering a wider viewing area when the device is unfolded.
Galaxy Unpacked Event Likely on July 22
Several reports have previously claimed that Samsung will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London. The company has now strongly hinted that this could indeed be the launch date.

Samsung Malaysia is offering loyal customers an exclusive MYR 700 (around $171) discount on the purchase of their next Galaxy foldable through the Samsung Members app. The promotional offer will be available from July 22 until October 4.
Since the discount code becomes available on July 22, it serves as a strong indication that Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to take place on the same day. Official invitations for the event are expected to be announced soon.
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked – Expected Launches
Samsung is expected to introduce several foldable smartphones during the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. According to recent reports so far, the lineup may include the flagship Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which is expected to retain the standard book-style foldable design alongside the regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 that is tipped to debut with Samsung’s new wider form factor.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to weigh around 201g and tipped to measure 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded and 9.7mm when folded.
The standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to feature a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display with a boxier 4:3 aspect ratio. It is also tipped to offer a wider 5.5-inch cover display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. According to leaks, Samsung could reserve its traditional taller Fold design for the premium Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, giving buyers two different foldable form factors for the first time.
If Samsung’s wider foldable design delivers a more practical everyday experience while maintaining portability, it could address one of the most common criticisms of book-style foldable smartphones.
