A Shatterproof Smartphone with TurboPower Mod to Go a Long Distance

The union of Lenovo with the Motorola has provided some power packed smartphones in the recent past as Motorola has recently launched a redefined and amalgamated version of Moto Z2 and Moto X force to create Moto Z2 Force which we will review to find out what does it hold for the buyers. Motorola is claiming it as a shatterproof smartphone. It also comes with Moto Mods support on top of it.

Key Features

76 x 155.8 x 6.1mm | 143g | Android 8.0 (Oreo) | 5.5 / 1440 x 2560 | 6GB RAM, 64GB ROM | 6620mAh | Dual 12MP Rear, 5MP Front Camera | Dual Nano SIM

The new Moto Z2 Force in terms of its design is sticking to that of its predecessors. The phone is light in weight minus Mod and puts no pressure on your hand while using the phone or while carrying it around. The phone lacks the 18:9 screen ration which was something not expected from the smartphone of such price range. At the front of the screen, there are the dual LED flashes alongside the selfie camera. Below the display lies the home button with the fingerprint sensor embedded in it which is fast in recognising and allowing you to access the phone. The rear of the phone has a bump module which is fitted with the camera and the LED flash. The rear panel also supports the Moto Mods connector. The power button and the volume rockers are at the right side of the phone.  The SIM tray can be located at the top of the phone which is hybrid in nature. At the bottom, there is USB Type-C port. Moto Z2 Force has no 3.5mm headphone jack instead it has 3.5mm plug which needs to be plugged in the USB Type-C port in case if you want to use earphones. The phone is claimed to be a water repellent with nano-coating but lacks an IPX rating for water and dust resistance.

The new Moto Z2 Force is sporting a display size of 5.5 inch screen which is the most suited screen size and helps to keep the size of the phone in a compact form. The QHD display has a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The screen is bright and crisp and the colours are well preserved. The screen might easily get scratches and is more prone to smudges but, the smartphone has Shatter Shield glass to protect the screen. The Moto Z2 Force has a really toughened screen which will not break easily unless you put it under the hammer, intentionally.

The new Moto Z2 Force has the latest operating system as well which is Android 8.0 Oreo. There is 6GB of RAM in the new Moto Z2 Force which can take on any process with ease. The RAM size allows good gaming experience. It works in synchrony with powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with four cores clocked at 2.3GHz and four clocked at 1.9GHz. The processor and the RAM handled every task easily and there were no issues of device crashing any process in between. The ROM size of the device is of 64GB which is sufficient amount of storage and can further be expanded upto 2TB with the help of microSD card. There is something very noticeable with the device that it heats up very quickly in case of performing any task and cools down once the process is put to end. Heating of the device might cause the users to be in state of double mind before approaching the new Moto Z2 Force.

MOTO Z2 FORCE selfie camera

The new Moto Z2 Force sports powerful cameras on both sides. To begin with, the selfie camera is of 5 Megapixel with f/2.2 aperture and it does not show any graining effect when it comes to clicking a selfie. The dual LED flash is amazing as it can act as a torch to let you to be free from the flash suddenly striking your eyes.  Thanks to the dual LED flash the phone takes advantage of attracting the users to prefer the new Moto Z2 Force because it allows the users to not to be helpless in case of clicking selfies at night or at dim lighting conditions. The primary camera has dual 12MP senors with a dual tone LED flash. The rear camera is brilliant and captures every detail of your subject with crystal clarity in daylight but, the low light is still a challenge for it. There are various attributes with the camera like phase detection and laser autofocus, HDR, panorama, time lapse etc.

MOTO Z2 FORCE battery

The battery power of the new Moto Z2 Force is just mere 2,730 mAh on paper but, after coupling it with the Mod (TurboPower Pack of 3,490 mAh) which we were provided with it, takes the power capacity to whopping 6,220 mAh which can take you to miles. The issue of heating was noted while charging as well. The charger is of 15W with turbo charging mode which charges the device in quick time. The TurboPower Mod adds to the weight of the device when attached. The Turbo Power Mod has USB Type-C port for charging it.  It helps to be free from carrying the charger and the power bank. The other Mods could be attained by buying them separately.

The new Moto Z2 Force has the qualities of being a flagship device such as the shatterproof screen, huge battery life (with Power Mod) and clean Android experience but also lacks few certain basics of the day such as the bezel-less display, face unlock and 3.5mm audio jack. At Rs 34,998, Moto Z2 Force can be nice experience to have with the Moto Mods functionalities but, it has to compete with OnePlus 5T in this category.
