Design

Motorola one Design

One should not confuse Motorola one with Motorola one Power because both of them looks very similar to each if size of the phone not to be taken into account. Motorola one is holding a very basic yet bold looks with unicolor for the body not going by mixing two colors or sporting nano dots for color patters to appear. The sample which we got was of color black. The phone is very easy to hold and operate and it because of the compact body size with curvy edges and light weight of the phone. The material used for composing the body structure is hard plastic. The rear panel of the phone holds shiny mirror look which looks good and prone to smudges. The rear panel holds less bulgy dual sensors which is a new change which Motorola has adopted. The fingerprint sensor looks very stylish with the Motorola logo on the sensor which is quick in response. At the front lies the 5.9 inch screen with a wide notch holding selfie camera sensor also a front LED flash. At the top of the phone lies a 3.5mm headphone jack whereas at the bottom lies Type-C USB port, a microphone and a speaker. The left side of the phone is holding the SIM tray capable of holding two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time. At the right side lies the power button and the volume rockers.

Display

The new Motorola one has a display size of 5.9 inch with the display technology being of LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touch screen. The screen space available provides comfortable experience of viewing any media or viewing documents, playing games etc. and this advantage is due to the aspect ratio of the screen which is 19:9 Max vision. The colors produced on screen are bright, vivid and punchy. The display has HD+ resolution of 720×1520 pixels and 287ppidensity. The screen protection is trusted with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass.

Platform

The OS chosen for the new Motorola one is the Android 9.0 Pie with latest Android OS upgrades. The new Motorola one has Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC processor with 2.0GHz. The processor is very efficient in handling multitasking which we got to see while we tested the processor. The processor surely has lots of power to handle any task thrown at it and it has impressive capability in handling the games with slight degradation in the graphic quality. The phone do seems to acquire some trace of heat while playing big games and operating big applications. But the heating is just for some seconds which shortly gets normalized when the processor together with the power of RAM comes into action. The RAM size of the phone is of 4GB which under its price range is the top RAM size which you could get. The RAM backs every process and the device does not seem to take heavy load of any application. The internal storage of the phone is of 64GB which can be expanded with the help of microSD card and the advantage of Motorola one in terms of storage is that it provides different tray to place the SDcard allowing the users to use two SIM cards at the same time.

Cameras

motorola one camera

The peculiar thing which one can easily notice in the cameras of Motorola phones is that they have more near close up of the subject/object which you want to capture and the Motorola one also has same unique way of involving the camera frame. The new Motorola one has dual rear sensor with the primary sensor being of 13MP with an aperture of f/2.0 whereas the secondary sensor is of 2MP with an aperture of f/2.4. The daylight shots are very impressive with details tightly intact and at the same time maintained the perfect color temperature. The images captured at night were good but not of impressive quality which we see in other phones of similar range. The night shots looks kind of dull because of the color temperature and there are some graining effects which could be noticed in the night shots. The selfie camera is of 8MP with an aperture of f/2.2 and has a bonus point which is that is being accompanied by front LED flash which allows to capture selfies easily at night. The selfies captured at daytime are very clear and crisp with high details. The same issue which we found in the rear camera is evident in selfie camera as well which is that the selfies captured at night without the flash looks dull. There are various modes to choose like portrait mode, cinema graphs, panorama etc. Overall it could be said that the cameras are very average of the Motorola one which might work as disadvantage.

The sound quality of the phone is quite good as well as the phone has Dolby Audio feature and the two grilles transmit quite high sound frequency.

Battery

Motorola one battery

One very interesting quality of Motorola phones is that their battery power and the ability to last long and similarly the new Motorola One has impressive battery power which is of 3,000mAh. The battery power of the phone easily takes you throughout the day entertaining you to the fullest. The battery charging speed is also very impressive and thanks to the type-C port which acts as catalysis to boost the charging speed and this boost is provided by 15W Turbo Power charger.

Conclusion

Motorola One could be termed as the predecessor to its previous model Motorola One Power. The Motorola One has some fire power to shine amongst the heavily crowded budget segment smartphones such as near stock Android performance, efficient Snapdragon processor and ample amount of RAM to compute the daily needs as well as the extensive gaming too. Surprisingly, the battery lasted a day of moderate usage despite being less on paper. The Type-C is an added advantage to Motorola One. Cameras did well on most of the fronts and you will be pleased with its outputs.
