Lenovo K9 Review: Quad Cameras under Budget comes with Type C

Lenovo K9

The highly targeted area by all the smartphone companies is budget ranged section and the real competition could be seen in the section clearly. Various companies have bombarded wide range of phones in their budget range and to some extent all companies seems to follow a similar trend in its budget ranged smartphones. Lenovo has understood that to shine differently it has to do something new to excite the users and this constant search to stand different has led to the launch of new Lenovo K9 which is the latest entrant in the budget range smartphones. Our review will provide an insight that what this new Lenovo K9 has which is making it to stand different from rest of the budget ranged smartphones.

Lenovo K9 design

Lenovo K9 sports an eye catchy look with its glossy mirror coated rear side. The glossy look absolutely looks pretty and amongst budget range Lenovo K9 is one of the beautiful looking phones. The mirror coated rear side has some cons as well which is it highly prone to smudges. At the rear side of the phone lies the dual camera sensors placed horizontally followed by a LED flash. The fingerprint sensor could also be sported at the rear side which is quick in response. The phone is quite comfortable to hold as well due to its curvy edges and has reasonable body weight. The front fascia of the phone has screen size of 14.5cm and above the screen lies the dual selfie sensor and front LED flash as well. The bottom side of the phone is sporting Type-C USB port which is hard to find even in mid ranged smartphones and it is obviously first of its kind to sport Type-C USB port making K9 to stand way ahead than other budget ranged smartphones. At the bottom you can see 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grille whereas the top of the phone is completely blank. At the left side of the phone lies the hybrid SIM slot and at the right side lies the power button and volume rockers which are placed at right positions and easy reach of your fingers.

Full Specifications

Lenovo K9 has 5.7 inch IPS LCD display with 16M colors. The screen resolution is of 720×1440 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 18:9. The screen is tall and wide offering comfortable experience of performing any task be it watching movies or playing games. The adaptive brightness feature of the phone allows the display to be visible under sunlight by increasing its brightness level and even decreases the brightness level at night to keep your eye away from any stress. The protection of the screen is trusted with 2.5D curved glass.

The new Lenovo K9 is not just beautiful rather it can surprise you with its performance. Lenovo K9 is powered by MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22 SoC octa-core clocked at 2.0 GHz Cortex A53. The processor smoothly runs all the applications and we did not find any issue while multi-tasking or playing normal sized game. The mention of normal sized game is highlighted because the 3GB RAM of the phone might not suit the requirement of high games and can put lot of stress on the processor which will heat and slow the device. The internal storage of the phone is of 32GB and it can be expanded if you choose to sacrifice one of the SIM slot. The working capability of the new Lenovo K9 is far better than most of the budget ranged smartphones. The device only heats up when we used big apps like Snapchat or played game for hours. Lenovo K9 runs on operating system Android 8.1 Oreo.

Lenovo K9 camera

The cameras of the Lenovo K9 are one of the best cameras which you will find in any budget range smartphones in present smartphone market. The new Lenovo K9 has dual rear camera sensor where the primary sensor is of 13MP, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF whereas the secondary sensor is of 5MPand has an aperture of f/2.4 and acts as depth sensor. The shots captured by the rear camera maintain all the details, color concentration in a proper manner and delivers images to cherish for. The daylight shots did not break in quality like reducing graining effect when we zoomed in. The flash of the rear camera is strong as well and the night shots are well detailed and clear in quality. You have to keep your hands steady when you zoom in at nights because the focus shifts quickly and there will be some graining effect as well. The front camera of the phone is equivalently powerful like the rear camera with 13MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and PDAF and the secondary front camera is of 5MP with an aperture of f/2.4. The selfie camera of Lenovo K9 is one of the best selfie cameras which I have ever tested in budget range smartphones. The selfies are very clear and crisp and if you are selfie lover and want to have good deal in affordable range than Lenovo K9 is the perfect answer to meet your search. The selfie flash allows you to take clear selfies even when the lighting conditions are not favorable. The camera of Lenovo K9 is one of the main attractant and it will surely lure huge amount of attention towards itself because of its camera. The only change in quality is noticed when you compare daylight and night shots because night shots do losses some quality but to me it is something which you can ignore.

Lenovo K9 battery

Lenovo K9 has non removable battery of 3,000mAh. The battery power of the K9 is impressive as well because it is not easy to drain the complete battery within quick successions and you have to literally use it for hours to put some impact on its battery life. The battery lasts almost throughout the day with a single charge giving you non-stop enjoyment and fun. The phone has advantage over other budget ranged smartphones because of its Type-C port which enables it to charge faster than any other budget ranged smartphones with microUSB port. The phone do acquires a bit of heating while charging but to me it is very normal for any device to gain some heat when put to charge.

The Lenovo K9 has some good features such as vivid display, quad cameras and the most striking is the addition of USB Type-C port. Haven’t seen any smartphone maker giving it under 10K. The back panel looks appealing too. The MediaTek Helio P22 does well with K9. The battery is on lesser side but, can go upto a day of moderate usage. The cameras did well under the price of Rs 8,999. The Lenovo K9 has to battle it out with Honor 9 Lite and Redmi 6.
