Redmi is reportedly preparing to launch the Redmi Note 17 series in China. And new certification listings have now hinted at the arrival of an entry-level model called the Redmi Note 17R. Some media reports suggest that the company may completely skip the Redmi Note 16 lineup after launching the Redmi Note 15 series last year. Here are more details.
Redmi Note 17R CMIIT Certified
The upcoming Redmi Note 17 series is expected to include multiple smartphones with the Redmi Note 17R likely positioned as the most affordable option in the lineup.

The Redmi Note 17R is tipped to carry the model number 26021RN18C for the Chinese market and has recently appeared on several certification platforms. After receiving approvals from China’s 3C and SRRC authorities, the smartphone has now also been certified by the country’s MIIT authority.
According to the latest listing, a Xiaomi smartphone with the model number M025EC has been approved by the CMIIT certification platform. Although the listing does not reveal detailed hardware specifications, the multiple certifications suggest that the device could launch in China soon possibly sometime in June.
Redmi Note 17R – Specification (Expected)
Reports indicate that the Redmi Note 17R could remain exclusive to the Chinese market, while international markets may receive the same smartphone under the Redmi 17 5G name. This speculation is based on Redmi’s previous strategy as last year’s Redmi Note 15R launched as a rebranded Redmi 15 in certain regions.
Rumours surrounding the smartphone indicate that the Redmi Note 17R could become one of the first devices to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset. This processor was officially introduced in April this year.
Reports further suggest that the same device may launch in global markets under the Redmi 17 5G branding.
A recent report by SmartPrix revealed some of the rumoured specifications of the Redmi 17 5G. According to the leak, the smartphone could feature an LCD display with support for a high refresh rate. The device is also expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 4-series processor and may pack a battery larger than 7,000mAh.
For photography, the Redmi 17 5G is tipped to feature a 50-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.
In India, the Redmi 15 5G was launched with a starting price of Rs 15,999. However, increasing smartphone component costs and rising memory prices globally could result in the Redmi 17 5G launching at a higher starting price possibly around Rs 20,000 in the Indian market.
