Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G in Japan as the first Xiaomi smartphone to feature a huge 10,000mAh battery. It is also the first Pro Max-branded phone in the Redmi Note series. Here’s everything you need to know about this newly launched smartphone.

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max – Battery and Durability

As mentioned, Redmi Note 17 Pro Max is the first Xiaomi smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery capacity. The battery uses silicon-carbon technology and is claimed to deliver up to three days of runtime under normal usage. It supports 100W wired charging and Xiaomi claims that just 20 minutes of charging can provide enough power for an entire day.

The 10,000mAh cell is claimed to retain more than 80 percent of its original capacity even after 1,600 charging cycles, which the company equates to around six years of use. The phone can also be used to charge other devices, thanks to wired reverse charging support of up to 27W.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G is designed to withstand water, dust and accidental drops. It uses Xiaomi’s “Redmi Titan Structure” and carries IP66 and IP68 ratings. The phone has also undergone a 72-hour underwater test at a depth of 2 metres with the test verified by TÜV SÜD.

For underwater photography, Xiaomi has included a dedicated water mode that allows users to take photos while the phone is submerged. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, while SGS certification confirms that the device can withstand drops from heights of up to 3 metres.
