Xiaomi appears to be gearing up for the India launch of its next-generation Redmi Note series smartphones. While the company has already confirmed that the Redmi Note 17 series will debut in China this month, the alleged Redmi Note 17 has now been spotted on India’s BIS certification platform.
Apart from that, a Poco-branded variant has also received the same certification hinting that both devices could arrive in the country in the coming months.
Redmi Note 17 and Poco M8 Plus Receive BIS Certification

Two Xiaomi smartphones with model numbers 2607DRA18I and 2607DPC18I have appeared in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database. The listings suggest that the two handsets are likely to be identical devices, with one launching under the Redmi brand and the other under Poco branding.
According to reports, the model number 2607DRA18I is expected to launch in India as the Redmi Note 17, while the 2607DPC18I variant could debut as the Poco M8 Plus.
Although the certification does not reveal any hardware details, the Poco model is expected to share nearly identical internals with the Redmi Note 17.
Redmi Note 17 Expected Specifications
Reports suggest that the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 17 will feature a flat 6.83-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The handset is also expected to include an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
The smartphone is tipped to be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor. While the exact battery capacity has not been revealed, the device is expected to pack a large battery and support 67W wired fast charging.
For photography, the Redmi Note 17 is rumoured to feature a single 50-megapixel rear camera. The smartphone is also expected to run Android 16 with HyperOS 3.1 on top and offer a water-resistant design. It remains unclear whether the global and Indian variants will retain the same hardware specifications as the Chinese model.
With memory prices continuing to rise, the upcoming Redmi Note 17 series is expected to carry a higher price tag especially considering its rumoured hardware upgrades. For reference, the Redmi Note 15 launched at Rs. 22,999. Based on current rumours, the Redmi Note 17 could be priced below Rs. 30,000 when it arrives in India.
