RIL AGM 2018: JioPhone 2, JioGigaFibre and more announced


Reliance Industries, at its 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at Birla Matushri Sabhagar in Mumbai has announced the all-new JioPhone 2, the JioGigaFibre and more for the Indian users.

The 4G VoLTE-enabled feature phone can now generate more than 20 crore voice commands very month. As promised previously, the arguably popular apps- YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp have now made way to the new JioPhone 2 as well as the JioPhone.

The successor to the last year’s JioPhone- the JioPhone 2 has various improvements over the predecessor.

The new JioPhone 2 comes with 2.4-inch QVGA display along with a QWERTY keyboard, based on customer feedback. Running KAI OS, it is backed by a 2,000mAh battery and has 512GB of RAM. It comes equipped with 4GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card.

The dual-SIM smartphone comes with various connectivity options such as VoWi-Fi, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and FM radio. Additionally, it comes with a loud mono speaker, a 2-megapixel rear snapper and a VGA front camera.

The new JioPhone 2 will be up for grabs, starting August 15 for an introductory price of Rs 2,999.

Additionally, Reliance Jio has unveiled a new Monsoon Hungama Offer which will allow users to exchange his or her old feature phone for the JioPhone at Rs 501, starting July 21.

Coming to the smart home products, the company has unveiled the fibre-based broadband services- JioGigaFibre for a connected home at GBPS speeds which will be available, starting August 15.

Alongside, the company has introduced the Jio GigaTV which supports voice commands and video calling as well as the Jio Virtual Reality headset.

Lastly, Jio has introduced various smart accessories such as Audio dongle, Video dongle, Smart speaker, Wi-Fi extender, Smart plug, TV camera, and much more.

Furthermore, Reliance Jio has announced a total user base of 215 million customers since its inception two years back.
