Cupertino tech major Apple, with its iPhone 8 has gained the top spot, becoming the bestselling smartphone globally, according to a report by Counterpoint Research.
Following the iPhone 8, Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus gained the second spot, the iPhone X acquired the third position and the Xiaomi Redmi 5A got hold of the fourth spot.
The fifth spot was taken by the iPhone 8 Plus, followed by Samsung Galaxy S9 on the sixth, the Huawei P20 Lite on the seventh, the Vivo X21 on the eight, and the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus and Redmi Note 5 on the ninth position. Lastly, the tenth spot was taken by the OPPO A83.
The report suggests that Apple’s first spot was due to the strong promotion campaigns during the FIFA World Cup.
While Samsung sales were steady in the US, Xiaomi had a stronghold in its home country China as well as in India with its expansion of its offline presence with the Mi Stores.
Additionally, Huawei gained momentum in its home country with its P20 series, Vivo performed well due to its under-the-display fingerprint scanning tech, and price-cuts and promotions led to good sales of the OPPO A83.
