Electronics Manufacturing

ICEA will replicate mobile manufacturing success in other electronics verticals too

Seeks close partnership with the US-based industry electronics

Mr Pankaj Mohindroo, the Chairman and National President of India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA), the apex industry body representing the entire electronics sector in India including mobile handset and its components manufacturing eco-system, has declared ICEA’s strong commitments and intent to establish India as the Global manufacturing HUB in the medical electronics sector and other electronics verticals with close partnership with the US-based industry electronics, with which ICEA and BAC are closely working with.

“Riding on the burgeoning manufacturing growth achieved in the mobile handset manufacturing eco-system in India during the past 3 years, whereby mobile handset is well considered to be the Champion category under the Make in India initiative of the Government, ICEA is envisioned and committed for replication of similar success stories in the entire electronics sector starting with Medical Electronics and other verticals such as consumer electronics, IoT, emerging technologies etc,” said Mr Mohindroo in San Francisco, USA on 26th August 2018.

It may be noted here that the India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) which has been championed the cause for promotion of the Indian manufacturing eco-system related to mobile handsets and other electronics verticals in past through successfully organizing outreach initiatives in prominent ESDM destinations such as China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Germany amongst others in past has embarked on its  first mega outreach initiative for the Hon’ble Minister for Electronics and IT-led High Level GOI delegation to the Silicon Valley.

Apart from this, a CEO Dinner Round Table has also been organized by the ICEA and BAC at Hotel Four Seasons on 28th August 2018 evening where minimum 30 – 40 senior level participation from major ESDM companies, investors community etc. are expected to attend. The major outcome of the CEO Round Table would be sensitization about the massive opportunity which India has to offer in the electronics sector to USA counterparts,” said Dr Nandini Tandon, the Co-Chair of Bay Area Silicon Valley – India Focus.

“We at ICEA are quite confident that the mammoth nation-building task which is staring at us, in lieu of the nation’s quest and determination to produce a Trillion Dollar Electronics Manufacturing industry can possibly be achieved with support and partnerships from our USA based industry friends. ICEA and BAC will continue to engage with the relevant stakeholders to take this vision forward. Efforts towards the establishment of a Mega Electronics Fund to support manufacturing activity is also very much on the cards and we are scheduled to interact with key USA based players in VCs and investment community to take this forward,” added Mr Mohindroo.

ICEA in partnership with the Bay Area Council (BAC) which is the biggest conglomeration of major Silicon Valley-based ESDM majors under its membership fold have scheduled a Workshop in Menlo Park, Bay Area on 28th August 2018 afternoon, which would be entirely focused on the promotion of manufacturing related to Medical Electronics.
