Comio to start self manufacturing unit with an investment of Rs 250 Crore

The rising Indian mobile handset manufacturer Comio is expected to commence its self manufacturing hub in India by this end of the year, states an anonymous company spokesperson. The official mentioned that Comio still looking for the area where the unit will start.

Comio is the sole ancillary unit of Topwise Communication Co Ltd, the Hong Kong based original device maker (ODM) firm. Sujith Rayirath, general manager (sales) of Comio said that Comio is focusing mainly on the mid-segment smartphone with a price tag of Rs 6,000 to Rs 12,000.

The start the manufacturing unit, the company is in talks with numerous state governments with a speculated investment of Rs 250 Crore. The company spokesperson also said that they are now expecting a growth of 20 to 25 per cent in the coming two years.

Rayirath added Comio has set a targeting of selling three million mobile phones this current financial year. The handsets were launched in South India a month ago with 25,000 phones being activated, and Tamil Nadu accounted for 10,000 phones, he added.
