BlackBerry KEY2 with dual cameras and physical keyboard unveiled


BlackBerry was long-rumoured to launch another smartphone with a physical keyboard, and the rumour has now turned into reality has the company has made the BlackBerry KEY2 official.

The main attraction of the smartphone is the dual-camera setup at the back, rated at 12-megapixel each. The dual cameras support dual-tone LED flash, Dual PDAF, Portrait mode and optical superzoom. The one resting at the front stands at 8-megapixel with Selfie flash.

Another highlight of the BlackBerry KEY2 is the improved physical keyboard which comes with the Speed Key to launch shortcuts for various apps and perform tasks without the need to switch to home screen each time. It is present below the 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution rated at 1,620 x 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio configured ay 3:2.

In terms of the other specifications, the BlackBerry KEY2 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The smartphone comes equipped with 64GB of inbuilt storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.

The BlackBerry KEY2 sources its power from a 3,500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology and runs Android 8.1 Oreo. The dual-SIM smartphone is topped with various connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and FM radio.

Additionally, the device is accompanied by a fingerprint scanner embedded in the spacebar and inbuilt privacy features.

The BlackBerry KEY2 is priced at $649 (around Rs 43,900) and will be available later this month in the US. However, there is no word on its availability in India.
